a little introduction/ introduktion/introduccion
You may be wondering why the title seems a bit off, translating the word introduction into Swedish and Spanish. Well, I share both genes in my blood and it’s part of who I am, which is why I want to incorporate a little part of me into every piece of writing. I want you to get to know me in a different way and that through my writing maybe your perception on some things may change or readjust. Maybe you’ll discover something about yourself you didn’t know?

6 Things I've Learned from Working Retail
My past summer consisted of new friends, salsa dancing, and working two retail jobs. Because I am young and broke (#kahlid) and there is an overtly large outlet mall conveniently located near my house, I found myself working not one, but two, retail jobs. While my friends and mom listened daily to my complaints about the poor organization and in's and out's of retail, at the end of the day these jobs have taught me much about life, work ethic, and myself and when viewed from the right lens, it is these jobs that I couldn't stand that are allowing me to transform my dreams into a reality. So here are a few things that I have learned from working retail. Enjoy :-)

2020 Update & Goals
2019 was one of, if not the hardest year of my life. 2019 was, without a doubt, the most transformative year of my life, and in some way or another, many of the challenges and changes that occurred over those 365 days have carried on into 2020.

Youth
Hey, my name is Valentino, I’m 15 years young and I’m here to create and influence others to do the same. I’m seeking to become familiar with the fashion industry. I know I’m still growing and have lots of learning to do and I’m comfortable with that. Mostly what sticks to me is moving forward and finding others that have the same level of ingenuity to make it. Art is evolving and we have the youth to insure that it always will.

Forgiveness
I had been told many years ago that I was the angriest person they had ever met. Years prior to that I was the most comical and entertaining person as most of my friends would say. I encountered certain experiences which transformed me from a well contained and polite individual to a woman enraged and deeply wounded. At that time, I did not believe innocence could be recovered. I also believed my anger would keep me safe. I was wrong on both counts. I am now free of the kindling which once raged where my blood and spirit pulse together. I feel everything, and think all feelings are healthy and positive in their own time. When I say I am free I mean I am free of deep, long lasting resentment.

The Pleasure Principle
We are very busy creatures in this world. Its a world full of doing, in which we often forget about being. We are constantly rushing to get the next task complete or the next chore done, so that we forget to give ourselves self-pleasure or believe we simply don't have time for self-care. Or we consider ourselves selfish for doing such.

New Beginnings, New Decade, New Life
As time goes by and your current reality is quite messy, it’s easy to get discouraged and want to throw in the towel. Life is a journey and no one every said it would be easy. Juggling kids who are depending on you to provide for their every need. Hustling constantly just to pay bills and debtors. Taking care of yourself and your home all on your own can cause a lot of mental stress.

the big D
Depression dries and sucks the life out all the flowers in your garden. There are stigmas and labels that come with being diagnosed with depression or any mental illness such as an attention seeker, lazy, weak, and crazy or a failure. Personally I know it takes a strong and brave person to be able to get out of the self made hole that they feel stuck in. Being in the mindset where you feel hopeless and completely alone with the same feeling of not knowing what to do with those emotions or how to sit with them. It gets overwhelming and a bit too much. Depression is hard to detect because it isn’t the type of illness where a naked eye could see it. It’s altered for each individual. Depression doesn’t look the same for everyone. Nobody will have the same definition because nobody knows the fine lines of yourself but you.
