The world can be a scary place, and the uncertainty brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic has all of us feeling an unprecedented level of stress. The hardest part is that there is no end in sight, and as we go on, day after day, it’s easy to feel overcome and exhausted.

Perseverance.
If there were any advice that I could give to my younger self, it would be a reminder of the power of perseverance. Never give up. It is a phrase we heard a lot growing up, or at least, I heard it a lot. "Never give up", they would tell me over and over again, and over and over again, I was told no.

Gratitude
I recently saw a quote on Facebook that stopped me in my tracks. It said, “Remember when you wanted what you have now.” In a society always trying to sell us something to improve our lives, rarely do we stop to appreciate what we have. We are trained with an eye toward progress. There must always be something better than what we have now. We spend all our lives living for the future and forget to notice the benefits of the journey toward that golden future.

Open your eyes, and wait and see the bigger picture, before it's too late. Because sometimes it's a choice you must make.
"It's a necessary ability to filter what we read and why should it be any different for how we think?" - Peter Mason Breathe. Take a second and pause. Feel the gentle rush of air into your lungs. If you meditate often then perhaps you already know these motions. In this space, I'm asking if you've seen or realised that there's a bigger picture, one that is hard to visualise and one that hides in plain sight. One that is there covered by our lives. It can seem like it only appears after it's too late. Oh so easy to see in hindsight. Yet, the future stands quietly there, patiently waiting. This has been a feeling I've felt at the end of a year at school, thinking of things you wanted to do. The steps you tried to take and the growth you wanted for yourself.

Balance
Balance. Life is filled with imbalanced people who spend their whole life trying to find the perfect equation or method in order to have balance. The world is accompanied by a bunch of strangers all living “under one roof” so to speak, who are all searching for the same thing, happiness. Searching for happiness can become one’s life quest, just the soul act of searching.

Planning, Preparation, and Memories of the National Anthem
It was a late summer evening, and the weather was warm and muggy. The mosquitoes were everywhere, and the anticipation of a big event was in the air. I couldn't believe the night was here, and it was really happening. It was an idea I had been tinkering with in my mind for a little while. Something that I dreamed about doing one day. And now, it was about to actually come to fruition. I was about to sing the National Anthem at a professional sporting event...at a Columbus Crew soccer game.

Finding Myself In Isolation
Like most university students, I enjoyed the first week of isolation social distancing. After just a few weeks of coming back and dealing with toxic people, not sleeping due to assignments, and killer lecturers, I felt some sort of happiness that I wouldn't have to handle most of that until the end of semester. I started losing my mind around the third week. Online classes had me lose most of my focus and I found myself spiralling into a deep pit of depression that I haven't fallen into since the end of last year. I felt useless as I had four mental breakdowns in one day, my habit of self-harm came back, and it didn't help that the economical state of the world was crashing more and more each day as the cure to this virus was yet to be found.

The COVID-19 Olympics
For the last 37 days (and counting), I've made every attempt to stay productive. I've signed up for women support groups on running for public office. I've signed up for voter registration parties (some with Michelle Obama). I attempted to start a new nonprofit, tried to start a book, and tried to make a new podcast series (even though I hate the sound of my voice). I contemplated doing a new work out routine, with the hopes of being healthy and fit by the end of quarantine.

Why You Shouldn't Feel Guilty About Your Screen Time
In the past few weeks of quarantine, people have been sharing things that you can do without screens. Pinterest moms, news outlets, Twitter... it's a whirlwind of things to do away from your screen. But is high screen time really that bad?
