How To Write Your Life Story
"Write what should not be forgotten." Your life is something that should be remembered. Everyone has a story to tell, even you. No matter how 'normal' your life may seem to be, your account matters. There might be someone out there who needs to hear your story, someone whose life will change if they listened to your story.

My quarantine
I never thought I’d be here. I never thought I would take this job. I never thought I’d leave my family, my partner, a job that I loved but battled with, to come here and one of the most difficult transitions into a new world. My friends and family told me not to take it. But something in my heart told me to come. I can’t describe it. The best way I can try to even remotely describe it is by saying it felt like my heart was smiling when I thought about arriving here. Now I’m in quarantine after two very long flight and this is the view that I presented with. Day 1:

What is beauty?
Nowadays people are so into image and body shaming it's getting a little ridiculous. The other day my daughter comes home with tears in her eyes stating that she was called ugly. Now mind you my daughter is thirteen so she has heard a lot of mean comments that happen in middle school, however she is not normally the one receiving them. We did just move to a smaller city. Which might have a bit to do with it. However when I asked her she said “Momma because I wear glasses, I am a four eyed freak and I am too fat!”

To Thine Ownself Be True…
For most of our lives, we are taught and learn very well to live according to the expectations that others set for us. When I say “others” I am referring to all the people in our lives who we love, respect, and who we believe have our best interest in mind. “To Thine Ownself Be True” during this time is usually also combined with an implied “but do it our way because we know what is best for you.”

Surviving hard times: Overcoming lockdown.
Everywhere you go its lockdown. Each time you turn on the television or listen to the radio its lockdown. Even a leisurely evening stroll through the park cannot hide the issue of lockdown. On the billboards, on the buses, inside trains and planes, the issue of lockdown is all too evident for all to see.

A Conversation with the Sun
I have this on and off relationship with the sun that’s been going on for quite some time now, and I can’t seem to understand why. Every day we meet at the same spot, the rooftop of an 18-floor apartment building, and we talk about many things ranging from daily quandaries of life to bigger dilemmas beyond my control. Sometimes we don’t even talk at all and just enjoy the moment in silence. This relationship could go on for a couple of days, but then one day I come to the same spot, at the same time, waiting, and she doesn’t show. Needless to say, I tend to get upset when she does this, even more upset because this could continue for days and I don’t know when she might come back. She leaves without a warning; no letter, nothing. I am at my worst these days.

Moving abroad. Knowing this changed my life forever
Life has a lot of interesting ways of showing us what we need instead of what we think we want. I've heard thousands of stories of people who didn't get what they wanted but the path they took instead lead them to have or experience something they needed in their lives.
