I Am Done Putting Out Your Fires
You light matches like its your hobby. Flicking them away carelessly. Some fizzle out into little piles of ash, harmless and unnoticed. Others start an uncontrollable blaze, taking down everything in its way. I imagine you must get some kind of sick pleasure out of these damaging fires. You stay to watch them burn and even stoke the flames. Perhaps the warmth of the flames is the only warmth you can find. I pitied you at first, but I have seen you reignite every fire that got put out. Rekindling the ashes desperate to find one more spark. Hoping for one last opportunity to be rescued.

Shift Happens!
2020 was like no other and looking at the way all things stand in the world today as we enter 2021 with the virus, politics, financial insecurity, health, openings and closings of small business, inability to see and be with family and love ones surely looks like a nightmare we all have been going through and still waiting to end.

Running Away
I ran away from my first marriage. It was easy. After finding out he had been unfaithful, I packed my things and left. My friends congratulated me on being so brave. I told myself I was courageous and deserved better, which was true, but I knew the darker side to that truth. I didn’t try to work things out because it would have been too hard.

Stay on Top of Things
It can be hard for a lot of us these days given what’s going on in the world. It is easy to be stressed out, anxious, and generally worried about the future. I would say that on the whole people don’t do well with uncertainty and not knowing what the future holds. It can be quite daunting not know what will happen a month from now, six months from now, or even a year from now. When I think of myself who prefers certainty and planning things out on a week-by-week basis, it can be frustrating to have to change or amend plans due to lack of feasibility or to remember that the world has changed, and you have to adapt to it.

Take-up arms
Discouragement. It is the thing that will make you feel as useless as the letter U in the word "guitar." Regardless of the word, the letter is still important; U are still important. As you go to and fro you will come across opposition which will deliver heavy blows verbally, physically, emotionally, or conscious/unconsciously that will make it seem like U aren't. Perhaps you are tough enough to take a few hits, after all, we are a strong species. Sooner or later, however, there will come a time where a cry for help will be greatly needed; there is nothing wrong with accepting assistance here and there.

Reflections On a Doldrum Year
Whilst discussing this past year and the prospect of a new, perhaps more uplifting one on the horizon with a friend yesterday, I found myself uttering the words, “I’ve never been so excited to put a needle in my arm.” If, in the late stages of last year, I somehow knew that my mouth would be forming this sentence, I’d have assumed I’ve hit some sort of rock bottom, wondering how I, a person who truly fainted the last time I had bloodwork done for an annual physical, managed to develop this habit. I wouldn’t have been able to anticipate the events that would shortly follow, and the overwhelming amount of anxiety paired with the slight optimism a new number in the calendar year brought me now seems humorous in hindsight. It’s not rare for the winter months to stir a potent concoction of melancholy and needless recollection and analysis in my head, and though many think pieces will be written about the year that was 2020, the majority of which will undoubtedly be much more eloquent than this, I can’t resist the impulse to try and wrap my hands around this period of time that has slipped through so many of our fingers. So how does one reflect on a year that in many ways, wasn’t, yet also rattled our brains with unending news cycles and new alarms?

Is The Glass Half Empty Or Half Full?
DECISIONS, decisions, decisions: you and I make them every single day. From the moment the alarm clock shatters the morning silence, I ponder, albeit groggily, if I could afford to remain cocooned for a few more minutes in my bed instead of arising swiftly to seize the new day; to choosing what I would have for lunch, to signing the walking papers of my inept assistant, or whether it was time to tell my best friend that she has invested more than enough time and emotion in her unfaithful domestic partner.

I Can See Into My Future
I am no psychic. Allow me to explain. Humans are always growing. Sometimes, we have seasons of stagnation, however long or short, but nevertheless, we are growing. No matter how long it takes the seed to mature into a living, breathing tree, it will occur as part of a natural process. Yet, in our human lives it seems so much more convoluted than that. We live in an age of such complexity, the point of mature growth is an uncertain concept. Are we ever really there? Do we ever stop growing or does it simply slow down with time? Is a man near death learning like a child who takes their first step?

Fresh Start for Humanity
For my new years resolution I decided to try and my hardest, to be the change I want to see in the world. It all starts with you I tell myself, think about it with me for second. If you could wake up every day with a smile on your face, happy no matter what life throws at you? Isn't this what we should strive for? Be the change you want to see in the world by making the correct choices each day. Life is hard and everyone is dealing with something, some just hide it better. If everyone started to learn about themselves more instead of keeping tabs on everyone else, well the world could start turning around. This world doesn't need more gadgets or faster computers or anything else money can buy. It needs LOVE, but the love that only comes from you first by being that change you want to see in this crazy world we live in.
