The Perfect Lift
A cool rush of wind crisply hit my face as I entered the Bell Senseplex. Who’s ever heard of holding a powerlifting meet in a hockey arena? Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a green space. There happens to be an indoor soccer field and that is where Provincials held. Red and black, black and white, a sea of singlet wearing lifters cased the space. Just beyond a curtain, behind the main lifting platform, you could see lifters being amped up by their coaches, or zoned out by the beats in their headphones. There were others ritualistically setting up their deadlifts-left arm up-right arm up-left arm down-grip-right arm down-grip-breathe out-breathe out more-brace-lats engaged-sit back-lift—warming up for the moment that would define them. I noticed that there were physio tables set up, and a few lifters from the weight class that just finished were having their limbs contorted in ways that would ease their pain. The smell of fear mixed with excitement and ammonia.

It may not be a surprise to you—the reader—when I say my unrelenting passion is writing. But for many in my life it’s a hidden secret, or an under played hobby of mine. This passion is scary, terrifying, horrifying—because if I fail, I’ll lose the piece that’s always held my heart together.

Being an artist fuels me. It shifts the way I move through the world and changes how I view everything and everyone around me. For as far back as I can remember I have been a creative, if you ask my parents they’ll say I’ve been creating before I even came into this world. My mom says even when I was in her womb I had my own dance “routine” whenever she played certain songs. Creating is a part of my being, there is no me without Art.
Deveney MarshallPublished 3 years ago in MotivationTruth. Fact. Lies That Hate Them
The truth is knowledge of a "fact". Which is proof or something not open to question. A suitable synonym, "reality" can be expressed as texture (touch) or experience (sense), not an idea of things, conditions, or situations. Truth isn't what we make it, that will be the "lie". The truth happens or it occurs - it's not created, just like any event. While our definition is in the "present-continuous tense", it helps to focus the life-span of truth on the present. It's accurate, authentic, and it is living. Let us illustrate this with a scientifically proven and accepted event.

John Lennon had it right knowing that we live in a world full of dreamers and that love is all we need. Two things that go hand in hand for those who have a lot to do in life and in the fashion industry. Had it not been for my dreams and love, I wouldn’t be the person I am today and I wouldn’t have taken the chances necessary to make big changes. Who would have thought that a girl born in the Philippines could end up living her dream of being a New York City fashion designer? Certainly, a few of my family members didn't. If I were to give advice to anyone, it would be that if you want to feel right with yourself, you need to do what feels right in your heart.

My passion has become life and trying to help other people find their passion. How I'd gone about that has changed over time. First I'd wanted to be a Microbiologist in Grade 6. I was going to cure The Common Cold and help a lot of people. But when my Grandpa passed away in grade 9, I changed that to curing cancer, since not as many people died from the Common Cold. I didn't want anyone to feel as sad as I did. But life had a different journey for me.
The Passionate AutisticPublished 3 years ago in MotivationTogether, We Make One
So I am 14 years old. I am a freshman in high school. My best male friend comes out to me. He likes a boy. He only likes boys. And he’s not ready to tell his family and friends. He’s nervous. He’s vulnerable. And he somehow knew that, with me, he was absolutely safe to be all of himself. With me, a difficult truth to share out loud was just a bit easier and met with kind. With me, anything and everything that is real and human is allowed no matter how hard it is to say. With me, the only hard part is saying it, doing it, being it, whatever it is, in a world that can be so narrow-minded while we cultivate a space of expansive self expression.
Jamie Lee | STELLA BROWNPublished 3 years ago in MotivationPainting is my Passion
My passion is painting, oil painting that is. Oil painting is an art form I picked up while in college and I’ve been doing it ever since. It has helped me explore various subject matter through different styles and it has helped me realize my true calling in life. Before I picked up painting I thought I was going to be sitting in front of a computer all day designing, but painting came into my life and gave me a focus. A focus that will last for eternity.

The day my mother died was the day that I hit rock bottom. I melted into the floor. I dissolved. I hardly remember the rest, though I recall the weeks and months of pain that followed.
E.B. JohnsonPublished 3 years ago in MotivationFulfillment in Many Forms
What fulfills me the most are opportunities to make contributions to the world that are uniquely my own. There is no one thing that fulfills me, for I have many passions, all of which benefit both myself and others. There are many reasons why others should support my passions, and each reason is particular to a certain interest of mine.
Alexander GrazierPublished 3 years ago in MotivationMy Childhood Pain is My Passion
I wasn’t born hating myself. I remember, although having my quirks (I was making a cross-eyed face in my preschool group photo), I was a normal, happy little girl. Somewhere along the line, though, I began to feel shame. During what should have been my most joyous phase of life, my top priorities became self-criticism and obsessively attempting to fix my flaws. I suffered silently for decades before I realized that my life’s purpose was not to be at war with myself. It has since become my passion and my life mission to not only study why this happened to me, but to prevent it from happening to more children. I am working on writing a book on body image for adolescents and creating an inclusive, online community space for them. To reflect on the prompt, I believe I attract followers and supporters because I am willing to authentically share my story, even if it brings up painful memories; because I know that my own vulnerability could pass along courage and healing to someone else.
Davina FaustPublished 3 years ago in MotivationThankful-Grateful- and Hands Full
My absolute passion in life is teaching. It comes on naturally some days and is an extreme struggle other days. However this is where I am, and where I am meant to be. Guiding other teachers to see their own strengths and teach them helpful strategies through my writing, making professional development courses, and creating teaching resources would be a business that lights my inspiration as well as serves other teachers to light their own.
