Celebrate Yourself

On a Daily Basis

Has anyone ever told you to "celebrate yourself"? And if they have, have you looked at them like they were completely oblivious and had no clue as to what life was? As you are thinking in your head that there is no reason to celebrate yourself; the entire universe is telling you the exact opposite. There are so many different reasons to celebrate yourself and every single reason matters. It doesn't just matter to you, it matters to everyone around you. Because after all, you give off an aura of yourself. And your own aura will be even more beautiful upon the celebration.

Trust and believe that you are not alone when you think there is no reason for celebration. You may scroll down your day's events and not find one reason to scream for joy. However, that doesn't mean there isn't one. It just means that you cannot see it. Maybe the people around you can see it. Let's face it, we are not raised and taught from a young age to celebrate ourselves, in adulthood. We are raised to celebrate childhood obstacles. But once we beat those obstacles, then what? The celebration doesn't end there!

One of the best ways to celebrate ourselves is to write it down. Take a few minutes at the end of the day and grab yourself a pen and a piece of paper. Just make a basic list of what you accomplished. This might sound stupid and you might be shaking your head while you are reading this thinking I am retarded for even suggesting this. But I challenge you to just try it. There is a sense of accomplishment through reflection on what we have accomplished. With that sense of accomplishment comes celebration.

Making a music playlist is a phenomenal way to celebrate. At the end of a long day put on your playlist and dance to your heart's content! If you are married then dance with your spouse! If you are a parent then dance with your children! If you are single then dance in your living room by yourself butt naked! Just celebrate!

Investing in the person who brought on the celebration is a key component. You are that person and you are worth celebrating. So invest in yourself. Investing in yourself can range from putting money aside for a weekend getaway to throwing an extra few bucks in your 401(k) or your IRA. Whatever the case may be, invest in yourself.

One of the most important points that I drill into people is the fact that they need to give themselves a break and cut themselves some slack. No one in this world is perfect. It took me over 30 years to realize that I am not perfect, and I never will be. For the majority of my adulthood, I have worried about making someone else happy while leaving myself in the background. This is just not a possibility any longer. As adults, we need to change our mentality and realize that we need to do something for ourselves in order to continue to be happy. Happiness is a choice that every single person makes on a daily basis.

Don't just stop with yourself. I encourage every single person to celebrate themselves and make it known to the world of the accomplishments that they have achieved. But don't stop there. Don't stop celebrating yourself. Celebrate other people as well. Share your celebrations with others and encourage others to celebrate as well. By doing this; as a whole, we can change the mentality of this world. This world does not need to grow into such a negative space. And let's face it with as many positive people inhabiting this world, we can overpower the negative.

Until Next Time.
