Many people are under the misconception that the core is just the abdomen area, but it is much more than that. With Pilates, the focus is not only on the abdomen but also on the sides, mid & lower back, thighs, buttocks, and hips. To build proper core strength and have an admirable and healthy body, one should carry out these basic Pilates exercises. To start off with a simple exercise for beginners, one should focus on their breathing. This exercise is simple but still has a great effect on the core. Lying down on the back, one should breathe in and ensure that while doing so, the pelvic contracts and relaxes for a better outcome.

The second exercise to strengthen the core is leg lifts. This exercise is extremely easy for beginners. During this time, one should breathe through their abdominal muscles. While doing this exercise, one should ensure not to arch their back or move their hips. Slower movement is better for strengthening the core.

The third exercise is single leg stretch. As the name suggests, this Pilates workout is the best to strengthen the core. It not only helps in making the core muscles but also helps in making the back muscles stronger and relieves pain in the leg, which is a great start for individuals who are continuously bent over while working before computers.

The fourth basic exercise to strengthen the core muscle is side bend preparation. This Pilates exercise can range between beginner to intermediate. The hips are in line with the bent knees, and the body is lifted up and down by resting on the hand and knees. Every time the hips are lifted, one should ensure that they are breathing through their abdominal muscles.

With these basic exercises one can commence their journey for a stronger and strengthened core. While these exercises are easy and can be conducted by anyone it is important that it is done under the guidance of a certified Pilate trainer.
