When you are tired and feel the need to rest with the hope of falling asleep. Well you should know that there is actually a science to falling asleep. It's actually amazing that sleep is so important that there is a branch of study dedicated to it. It is that important to the human mind to get a good nights sleep for proper functioning in all levels of life. We all have had sleepless nights and some of us have suffered insomnia and have felt so weak and exhausted all day long without that proper sleep. We can all empathize with one another on that note. Personally, I once had severe insomnia and had to go on sleeping pills for a while and I just could not function.

I couldn't keep my eyes open at school or at work and I looked sloppy at work since I couldn't think straight. So I know first hand the importance of sleep. Lack of sleep can produce migraines and headaches. Sleep is very important and it is not until this decade that the importance of sleep, what it is and how to properly get it has entered into the spotlight. In order to sleep with a maximum efficiency, it is very important to follow to consider making a ritual of it.

Sleeping if treated like a science will actually prove to be a very positive and worthwhile experience. One with many physical and mental rewards. While sleeping is important , ones' bed and bedding should be treated as equally important. Pillows, memory foam and certain fabrics should be carefully selected. Sleep sciences have reached a level of prominence that there are beds that in price alone are worth in the tens of thousands of dollars. A bed that cost $85,000 is a bit out of reach for many. While beds and costly accessories abound in the retail world, the real process to sleep is the main and important element to focus on.

Falling asleep is such a big event that not until this decade was it the importance of sleep given the spotlight. The ritual of sleep beings after showering, perhaps saying one's prayers and reading a book. That is when the sleeping process begins. Remember not to drink fluids after 8'pm so as to not wake up often through out the night. The lights should be off and all electronics should be turned off. Even a blinking charger light can be a distraction. All computers should be closed and personal computers should be covered. Windows covered and cracked open about half an inch for ventilation. Temperatures will gradually drop during the night so sheets and quilts that are warm and breathable are important. It is recommended that one sleep with socks on. There are also sleep aids in both natural and pharmaceutical form. Valerion root, St. John's wort, Kava Kava are some of the natural ones.

There are many types of medications so a discussion with your doctor would serve you well as to what is best for you to use. When sleep is given its proper respect it will do wonders for the individual and prove to give many positive results. A well rested functioning mind will help with the decision making and proper judgments as well as being efficient in their work and relationships. It's interesting to note that some of these anti-anxiety pills are what work on sleepless individuals. Anxiety plays a big part in lack of sleep so please see your doctor if you are experiencing sleep loss due to anxiety or insomnia. You shouldn't have to suffer. You deserve to sleep peacefully.
