22 Life Hacks That Can Save Your Life
These facts can save your life, so read and remember these little survival hacks: Flammable and inflammable mean exactly the same thing. If you or someone you know is stabbed or punctured by a sharp object, do not remove it. The object is preventing blood from gushing out. Do not turn your back on someone holding a gun to you - it is much easier for them to shoot you if they don't have to look you in the eye. If you are stuck in a riptide, stay calm and swim parallel to the shore. Do not walk down the stairs with your hands in your pockets, because if you trip and fall you cannot protect yourself by throwing your arms out. Crocodiles are very fast in a straight line, but do not turn well. If you are being chased after by a croc, run in zig-zags. If you ever almost drown to the point of throwing up water or passing out, even if you feel 100% fine, go to the hospital. Your lungs can actually unwittingly self-fill up with fluid over the next few hours. Should you run out of water, you can eat snow to stay hydrated but it is probably not the best idea because your body uses a ton of energy converting one form of matter to another.

Must Read Nutrition Books for Illness Prevention
The medical and pharmaceutical industries rake in billions of dollars each year treating diseases and conditions of all types, including a cornucopia of preventable illnesses. It seems as though Hippocrates's suggestion to "let food be thy medicine" hasn't sunk in yet. If only people employed tactics to curb illnesses before they ravage their bodies rather than acting only post-facto, then perhaps illness would cease to spread.

Holy Crap I'm 40: Gym Edition
When you turn 40, you become many things-fabulous, fantastic, fearless (or fearful, depending on your anxiety level), but you only become fat at 40 if you were fat before 40. Now fat is a relative term. Even the skinniest people sometimes think they are fat (and I usually want to force feed them cake), but, for some of us, weight has always been an issue. We can still fit into clothes, for the most part, we can still exercise, but we will never be walking down the street in jeans and a tank top for fear of scaring people or getting approached by a plastic surgeon who might say, "I think I can help you with those bat wings." So, it is really all relative.

Night Away
In the 2002 movie The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood Ashley Judd’s character flees home, family, and perhaps sanity as she escapes to a seaside hotel. Awaking a day or so later, she learns from the hotel operator how much time has passed. In that moment, the power of revitalization has taken over. The viewer can almost see the sweet relief in her shoulders, even as she frantically calls her children. Yet, the power and pressure of the young—and even more mature—mother is not the only narrative here. Women, across the board, are all in need of that frantic night away. The solitary night, in a bed you didn’t have to make, sheets you didn’t have to wash, a shower that you don’t have to scrub . . . the power and the moment are here.
