In our daily lives, we often find ourselves in various scenarios where our safety may be at risk. From encounters with wildlife to potential dangers in everyday activities, being aware and making smart choices can make all the difference. Most human beings are innately able to take or manage risks in our day to day living but our ability to take and manage risk vary from one person to another. Sone risks have more potential dander than other. That is to say risks themselves are not the same in their potential effects. The word safety has many views but in the context of this story I view it as immunity from negative effect of a risk. Yes, most of risks could be avoided by rightly deciding what to do or not to do; thanks to health educators. In this story, different situations are examined to identify who is in greater danger and how one can prioritize safety.

Situation 1:

Leah and Caleb are camping when Caleb gets bitten by a snake. Leah attempts to suck out the venom from his leg. Amelia, on the same trip, has a black widow dangerously close to her neck. Who is in greater danger?

Answer: Leah. Sucking out snake venom is not recommended and can lead to further complications. Additionally, black widow bites are rare and usually not fatal. Yes, risk is assessed base on, among other things, its potential harm.

Situation 2:

Becky and Alison are in the bathroom, with Becky using a hairdryer while Alison charges her phone near the bathtub. Who is less clever?

Answer: Alison. Having an electrical socket close to water poses a significant risk, making Alison's actions more dangerous.

Situation 3:

Evelyn is spending the night in the desert, while Grace is in the wilderness. Who is making a huge mistake?

Answer: Both. Evelyn risks freezing temperatures in the desert, while Grace's fire can attract dangerous animals. Both need to assess their surroundings and find a safer place to spend the night.

Situation 4:

Emma and Avery are enjoying a hot summer day. Avery plans to cook meat that has been standing in the sun for a while. Who is more likely to be affected negatively?

Answer: Avery. Leaving meat out in the sun increases the risk of food poisoning later on, potentially ruining their plans to go to the movies in the evening.

Situation 5:

Scarlett is applying makeup on a beach, while Emily is engrossed in texting her friends. Who is more likely to be robbed?

Answer: Emily. Though both are distracted, Scarlett's mirror gives her an advantage in noticing anyone approaching her, reducing the likelihood of being a target for theft.

Situation 6:

Ella is chatting on the phone with her boyfriend, while Madison applies lipstick while driving. Who is in greater danger?

Answer: Madison. Both actions are dangerous while driving, but Madison's lack of wearing a seatbelt puts her at a higher risk of injury in case of an accident. As you may understand from this situation risk could be confirmed or probable in light of this situation.

Making smart choices to prioritize safety is essential in various situations we encounter daily. By being aware of potential risks and taking necessary precautions, we can better protect ourselves from harm. Remember, in any situation, it's crucial to assess the risks and make wise decisions to ensure the safety and well-being. It is also equally important to analyze context of a risk. What is risky here may not be risky there, what is harmful to someone may not harm another person, and what is write now may be wrong tomorrow.
