Keto for Health & Fitness
As a teenager, I was very slim naturally. But as I stepped into my mid-twenties, the years of living a gigging musician's unhealthy life, with excessive drinking, zero knowledge of nutrition (I didn't even know what "carbs" were), I gained about 22 pounds. Which wasn't pretty on my tiny petite frame. I ate the same amounts as my 5'10" boyfriend and drank nearly as much wine. My exercise regime was made up of dancing on stage during the gigs. As I entered my 30s, I started to feel like I had lost myself. Not that being slim is the be all and end all, but I felt my confidence levels weren't there. I started to feel sluggish, I was constantly tired, and I'd throw my back out whenever I tried picking up an object heavier than ten pounds. So I started looking for "diets." I tried every diet in the books:

150lbs?? That's a lot right? Looking back now 9 years later, it doesn't seem possible that I was ever carrying the weight of another human being on top of what I am now.

I don't really believe in New Year's resolutions. To me, they just seem like they were made to be broken. With that being said, I have decided to really try and commit to bettering myself in the year to come. I am doing this in multiple facets of my life and one of them is through physical fitness and all around healthiness.

Most health trends end up being more harmful than beneficial in the long run. That's why it's important to take a step back, and really become educated in the process of any health fad you are considering taking part in.
Kelsey LangePublished 6 years ago in LongevityBest Fitness Books That Never Go out of Style
You can gain a lot of workout and exercise information from those around you such as your friends or personal trainer. There are even moments when you Google the best workouts for your body and health. But do these sources really know what you need? You can surf the internet for answers, but it’s always a disorganized mess on the internet. Sometimes, even Google doesn't know what you need.

The Hard Truth: Why Your Weight Loss Plans Aren't Working
One of the most common questions I get asked about weight loss and fitness is: "Where do I start?" As well as "How do you stay motivated?" The one thing about my fitness journey is that all my life I never quite felt like my body was up to par. But the amount of insecurity and lack of self-confidence was even more burdening to me than what my body looked like. I was never the "fat kid" in high school, but I was never the pretty girl either. I wish I had known then how naturally strong I am; that my body is naturally an athletic one, and that once I would have started an active hobby, I most likely never would have become an obese adult. But I did become an obese adult, about a year after I had my first child. As this over-200-pound version of myself, I was always making (and breaking) my own promises and trying things that didn't work, only to go back to my old ways. I always ended up saying things like: "Hey, I like to eat what I like to eat." "Maybe my body is supposed to be this way." "Weight loss works for other people, it has never worked for me." So despite making it look so easy now, it wasn't always that way for me. I learned a lot along the way, and I could have had it easy. I made it harder on myself, and I want to share what I didn't know then with you, so maybe you can stop making it harder on yourself, too.

I'm not sure what is expected when it comes to these posts. While most people seem to give advice on topics, I’m going to use this probably a little differently. I will post my workout from the day, how I performed, and my insights as things progress. I hope this can give insight to some other Crossfit athletes that are trying to be better than average like me. I am nowhere near being a games athlete, but I do consider myself highly competitive.
The 5 Best Yoga Poses for Back Stiffness
Yoga is a weird and wonderful thing. It’s good for the body, it’s good for the mind, it’s exhilarating but also relaxing. You can do it in aerial hammocks, on mats, on the beach, in the park, in your bedroom. It helps with recovery from injury like no other exercise, and it is great for any stiff or tight bits you may have.
