Here is, What I advise my son about best eating habits.

Hi, son. I wanted to talk to you about something that's really important to me. I want to make sure that you're developing healthy eating habits that will help you feel good and stay healthy.

Okay, sure. What do you want to talk about?

Well, as you know, the food we eat can have a big impact on our health. Eating a healthy diet can help us maintain a healthy weight, lower our risk of chronic diseases, and give us the energy we need to live an active lifestyle.

Yeah, I know that. But sometimes it's hard to know what to eat. There are so many different opinions about what's healthy and what's not.

That's true. It can be confusing, but there are some basic principles that most experts agree on. For example, it's important to eat a variety of different foods from all the different food groups. This means eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.

Okay, but what about things like candy or soda? Can't I have those sometimes?

It's okay to have treats occasionally, but it's important to enjoy them in moderation. Too much sugar or processed foods can increase your risk of health problems like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.

I see. So what should I be eating on a regular basis?

Well, for breakfast, it's important to have something that will give you energy and help you focus. This could be something like oatmeal with fruit and nuts, or eggs with whole-grain toast and avocado.

For lunch, you could have a sandwich on whole-grain bread with lean turkey or chicken, lettuce, and tomato, along with a side salad or some fresh fruit.

For dinner, try to include a variety of different foods, such as grilled chicken or fish, roasted vegetables, and a side of whole grains like brown rice or quinoa.

Okay, that sounds pretty good. But what if I get hungry between meals?

It's normal to feel hungry between meals, so it's a good idea to have healthy snacks on hand. Some good options include fresh fruit, vegetables with hummus or yogurt dip, or a handful of nuts.

That makes sense. But what about when I'm at school? They don't always have healthy options.

That's true, but you can still make healthy choices. For example, you could pack a sandwich or wrap it with lean protein, vegetables, and whole-grain bread or tortilla. You could also pack a piece of fruit or some raw veggies with hummus. If you're in a rush and need to grab something on the go, try to choose items like a yogurt parfait or a piece of fruit instead of a sugary pastry or candy bar.

Okay, I can do that. But what if I don't like certain healthy foods?

It's normal to have preferences, but it's also important to try new foods and expand your palate. You might be surprised by what you like! You could also try different ways of preparing foods that you might not like as much, such as grilling or roasting instead of boiling or steaming.

Okay, I'll try to be open to new things.

Great! And remember, it's important to enjoy your food and not feel like you're depriving yourself. You can still have treats sometimes, but just try to make healthy choices most of the time.

Thanks, Mom. I appreciate you talking to me about this.
