friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
Making Butterflies
The clock was ticking away the hour, every second, getting closer to check out on the time clock. Our facility was extremely strict about overtime. That evening was especially busy for me as Supervisor in the Rest Home since many of the Doctors preferred to make their monthly rounds on my shift. They knew, and rightfully so, that if they called me asking permission to see their Residents in the evening, after office hours, there was no way I would refuse them. They also knew that by calling me ahead of time, I would have all their Patient’s charts neatly stacked in the shelves of the rolling Doctor’s cart with a “Honey Do” list taped on the top allowing them to be in and out of the facility in the shortest time possible.

Fiskars Friends
In 2012, I was in Bunnings in Mascot, Sydney. It was a bright Saturday morning and we’d just had absurd snag sandwiches out the front with many vibrant folks. Once inside, we grabbed the one thing we needed then spent the vast majority of the wandering the aisles for various plants, accoutrements, and bits/bobs for our new apartment.

Why Are You So Mean?
As humans, it is almost impossible to withhold a first judgement on someone. It's something our brains do automatically from years of conditioning and influence, that we look at someone and within seconds we think we have them all figured out. And unfortunately for most, that first judgement that could be completely false, is the only thing they will associate you with and cancel you for on arrival. I was homeschooled for the first half of my youth, and you would have thought that that flaw would have been dismembered more due to the fact everyone being hippies, peace, love, and everyone wanting best for their kids.

Yellow Yarn
A tiny, chubby hand rests against the rough bark of a tree. A loose bracelet made of yellow yarn circles her wrist. Dark hair glistens in the sunlight and trees stretch tall above her, ancient branches quivering in a puff of wind, and a stoic wooden bench sits beside the trunk. Flower petals blow everywhere, clinging to trees, whispering around her, rioting from purest white to deepest pink. She catches one in her hand, quite by chance, and waves it gleefully around before stuffing it into her mouth. Her teacher is too busy with twenty-two other children to notice, but she spits it out, a frown warping her face.

True Friendship Is A Gem
Friendship is one of the greatest bonds a person can have. The lucky ones are those who have friends they can trust. Friendship is a dedicated relationship between two people. They both feel very cared for and in love. Often a friendship is shared by two people with similar interests and feelings.

Great Tools are key!
In March 2020 just before the Covid pandemic changed the world as we know it I bought myself a brand new sewing machine and a new pair of Fiskars classic scissors -the long ones that cut fabric like a dream. It was an expensive purchase but one I thought would provide me a sorely needed creative outlet. I learned how to sew as a teen in home economics and from my grandmother who was a seamstress and had worked in a curtain factory to support her immigrant family.

Empathizing With The Enemy
The beginning of my shadow work journey started with a heavy hitter. The first challenge was to write a message to the person who hurt you the most and explain why you said what you said. I actually had a harder time than I expected on that part alone. Until I reached the second challenge, create a visual of how I see myself (which I did on my phone). After some thorough self evaluation around my own self image, as well as concluding who’d honestly hurt me the most and the reason why what they’d done hurt me to the extent that it did, I was able to come to this ultimate conclusion: We should all take the effort to empathize with our enemies before internalizing what made them an enemy, so then us as people can can have an easier time dealing with our own faults and forgiving ourselves for past mistakes. I was personally able to see comparison in areas where I felt I lack and how that affected my interactions, next to the actions of my said “enemies”. I could see where the behavior possibly rooted from. However I’m no psychologist, merely an observer and an analyst

Man Talk: Part 2
(Continued from Part 1) .....“Hey, Spielberg.” A voice, darkened by early manhood, broke his creative trance. He turned around and saw “the Manukyan goons” as David and Paul called them, because they went to Manukyan - a private Pre-K -12 institution on the other side of town where the hardcore Circle folks whose parents had money went. Paul had gone there before he transferred to public school, where he met David, in third grade after it became clear to his mother and father that Manukyan’s shoebox environment left him gasping for breath. The students there wore plaid uniforms, studied in classrooms with posters of Mt. Ararat on every wall, and learned "dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" along with their times tables. Girls were expected to be white lace and the boys were trained to be testosterone meteor showers, as the three that stood before him definitely were. The hulking, excessively hairy leader of the group, Sarkis, loomed over David, and his henchmen Kyle and Tigran stood on either side of the frightened boy.

Make Sense of Your Introverted Friend: 5 Mysterious Behaviors Explained
I outed myself as a bonafide introvert in a recent post on Medium and went on to describe how uncomfortable it is for me to stand in a circle of people I don’t know that well. While the ensuing comments revealed that many fellow introverts found the situation relatable, it made me wonder about how strange an introvert’s behaviors must seem if you’re an extrovert.
