friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
These Dusty pitches called home!
He was of my age but much smaller than me. He was tanned, had brownish black hair that was always sticky with sweat and dust; he smelt of sweat too. I had known him for so long I couldn’t remember when the first time I saw him was.

A New Friend and a New Beginning for a Desperate Introvert
My friend Manisha is incredible. She was, when I knew her, a dynamic social butterfly. She interacted with people with the ease and grace of a genuine friend, even when speaking to strangers. She and I met when she tried her hand at radio broadcasting. It was my job to train Manisha to operate the board, the place where all of the volume control sliders are located. I taught her where each one was, what they controlled and when to deploy the correct one at the proper time and volume.

Young and Dumb
I’ve always wanted a girlfriend. Always thought that being in a relationship, or being in love would make me happy. I got that idea from watching my parents. We weren’t the happiest family, and they argued a lot, but they always made sure that we had enough, my sister and I.

Craig and the DVDs. Top Story - June 2021.
I was raised in Rockland County, a suburb of New York. Everyone who lives or has lived in Rockland will tell you that nothing ever happens in Rockland. Perhaps one of the only peculiar things about Rockland County is the county's multitude of high ranch houses. The high ranches were built in Rockland en masse in the mid-twentieth century to accommodate the growth of the suburbs, and if you don't live in one yourself, you know someone who does. The high ranches vary in size and decorative architecture, but their layout is generally the same. The upper level has the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, a bathroom, and three bedrooms. The bottom level is usually a den of some sort, and there is another bathroom, one more "bonus room," and the garage. You've probably guessed that I've spent some time in high ranch houses, and I have. Many of my childhood friends grew up in what I call the "Rockland special" including my best friend, Craig.

Just be by my side
Sitting in the centre of the college auditorium where everyone is giving huge applause to the person who was receiving a trophy for winning on a quiz contest and little before he received a debate contest prize too. He is also the president of the college student association.

Touch Me Not
What does the touch look like in your life? Yesterday, I put my hand on my friend’s shoulder during a live presentation we were watching, and they looked at my hand instead of looking at my face. The question here was ‘Why are you touching me?’, rather than, ‘Yes, what is it?’, and that stayed with me. I thought I was getting their attention to have them look in my face so I could quietly let them know I would be going to the restroom. I asked them about the touch later, and I found out it was inappropriate, and unappreciated. I have known them for over three years, known them well, and this situation yesterday is a powerful reminder to me that for some people, being touched instinctively raises suspicions and causes their guard to go up. I am supposed to know this, and act accordingly, my friend’s history prior to our meeting is irrelevant. It is uniquely compounded with difficulty because I am touch-starved. It was ingrained in me from a young age that touch is vital and desired, and that “good touches are always appreciated.” That is a direct quote from my mother, circa 1975.

I’m Old Enough to Be Your Mother. Get Over It.
Tattoos. Graphic t-shirts. Pink hair. Short skirts. There’s a long list of things that women over a certain age shouldn’t have, wear, do, or be. Some lists include having younger friends. Fuck that nonsense. And add cussing like a sailor to whatever list you want.
