The Thing That Comes In Waves
The water is too deep. It’s too dark, too. “Too” is my new resting state for anything even a smidge over the baseline of utter normalcy. It’s 80°? Too hot. We’re driving 70MPH? That’s too dangerous. It’s been four months? That’s too long. Can’t see the bottom? Too deep. Too dark. Too much.
Tina WargoPublished 3 years ago in HumansWhat now?
So. It’s kind of over. Kind of, but not really. Evidence for both camps of thought are around, the youth and even those - like myself - who are no longer in the ‘youth’ category are getting out and mingling. Public transport is getting busier, strangers sitting closer in proximity to one another rather than standing for their journeys.

I sat on the sofa with a long sigh, after a long day at work I finally had time to myself. My phone buzzed, I picked it up to find a text from my friend Derek which said “Mark! You ready for me to kick your butt at Battle busters!? Should be there in 30.” I almost forgot I invited Derek over the other day. My lazy slouch and exhausted demeanor changes into a more excited one as that reminder breathes new life into me. I rush to my game console, turn it on, grab 2 controllers, and rush back to the sofa to load Battle busters. “No way he's gonna beat me this time.” I say to myself as I start practicing, as cute as Derek is when he wins against me I will destroy him his time.

It was 1936 in Southeast Colorado. Black Sunday was now a memory that lingered hard for us. Most had moved on long before now, not quite knowing where they were headed. Anywhere but here seemed good enough.
Sändra AlexanderPublished 3 years ago in HumansHostage House Review
Move aside, Hollywood blockbusters; the independent film community is coming back strong! Hostage House, directed by David Benullo, was just released to Netflix, and proves that you don’t need flashy effects or loud car chases to make an entertaining film. Sometimes, all you need is a handful of talented actors, a beautiful house, and a cameraman and director who know what they’re doing (i.e no shaky cam THANK GOD!)
Michaela CalabresePublished 3 years ago in Humans'It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages'
Being human means never really living in the moment. We constantly crave new and fun experiences to look forward to so that when one event is happening, we aren’t too sad when it ends because we have something else to look forward to. However, there are the odd and rare occasions when we experience something so special, we never want it to end.
Em WhitehousePublished 3 years ago in HumansThe Craft That Made Me
Since as far back as I can remember, yarn has been a part of my life. I remember getting pulled out of Kindergarten to learn how to finger crochet a long chain. I remember the woman who taught me had a stroke earlier on, so half her face was paralyzed. She had a piece of metal in her eyelid to help her blink. I was told the finger crocheting was to help keep me focused in class. I loved it and gladly taught the skill to anyone who wanted to learn. I still am astounded that humans came up with ways to turn one string into many, and the many woven together to form ropes and yarn. I can't imagine being the person who figured how to make a cloth out of a single thread.
