We are currently in the middle of one of Africa's largest sports events which is taking place in Cote D'Ivoire, a country in West Africa.

African football players from around the world have come to play one another. The name of the football (soccer) championship is called AFCON 'The Africa Cup of Nations', however the French version is CAN 'Coupe d'Afrique des Nations'.

They use the hashtags AFCON2023 & CAN2023, even though its 2024, these matches are for 2023.

In a viral video, someone took a screenshot of a man trying to kiss a woman, many people made jokes about it, making it widely shared. However that woman in the video, isn't the man's wife.

Ivorian fan apologises to wife after spotted 'flirting' with lady during Senegal game

An Ivorian football fan identified as Anselme Santos has reportedly apologised to his wife and children after being spotted 'flirting' with a young woman during Cote D'Ivoire's Round of 16 clash with Senegal.

The Ivorian fan was spotted in the stands during his country's epic AFCON victory over the defending champions, preferring to ignore the stadium's raucous celebrations in favor of speaking with a young woman standing next to him.

According to Actu Foot, Santos admitted to a failure in judgment in attempting to woo the young woman and expressed regret for any disrespect caused to his wife and children.

In just a few days since this video was shared on Twitter X, there has been several memes and screenshots from this video. Men are making jokes, commenting crude and rude things.

Sadly, the man sharing the post has a flag representing Ghana, where rape culture and sexual assault is rampant and unchecked. Women and girls often don't report rape, can't report rape, or can't afford the still active rape fees, charged for examinations before the police will even accept your report.

Not only is this man married, but he's also forcing himself on this woman, as you can see his advancements appear to be unwanted by the woman. She even moves away from his lips as he tries to kiss her face.

In further the man claims that the “euphoria" of the game in which made him tell the woman, "give me your number", he didn't ask her for the number, he told her to give it to him. If you watch the video closely he's also pushing very much close to the woman's face as well. How does the excitement of sports make you force yourself on strangers?

The woman appears to be very uncomfortable and men sharing the video think that this is such a funny incidents. It makes you wonder what happened when the game was over.

He then follows it up by saying. "it wasn’t mean, but she didn’t want to. So I didn’t insist. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the lady, my wife and my children,” he said in the same above article.

This reminds me of the head of Spain's soccer federation, Luis Rubiales, who forcibly kissed player, Jenni Hermoso. Who has now moved her case to criminal court after Rubiales claims that the forced kiss was mutual. Even after several players said they didn't want to be kissed nor touched by the man.

A Spanish judge is now proposing that Rubiales be tried in criminal court. He also says three men who repeatedly pressured Hermoso to absolve Rubiales of any blame — by allegedly acting together in an attempt "to break the will" of the star forward — could also face related charges. The group includes Jorge Vilda, Hermoso's former coach on Spain's women's national team.
