Vampire Academy
So the Vampire Academy series on Peacock was canceled. After just a single season, this series was canceled. Now this is not an unusual action for streaming services. They love to create shows that people love, that are genuinely good and cancel them after a single season. Normally this is done in order to avoid paying writers bonuses but there seems to be a particular cancellation bias toward female led shows.

Vampire Academy
Okay so the Vampire Academy books were something that I absolutely devoured as a teenager. I recognize (as an avid reader as well as a screenwriter) that the actual writing was not great. But I insist that there is a really great story buried in those books. HOWEVER that becomes a very difficult point to argue when they release a Vampire Academy movie that looked exactly like every parody film released in the 2010s. So when I found out they were making a TV show based on the books I was so skeptical and I wanted nothing more than for them to bring to life the story I saw in my head while reading those books. Well I finally got around to watching the show and I don’t know how many more chances this story is going to get, but can someone hire me so I can do this right PLEASE?!

Movie Review: "Beau is Afraid" (2023)
Ari Aster is one of my favourite directors at the moment. Hereditary (2018) though a little overhyped was an amazing movie starring the awesome acting of Toni Collette. Without Collette, this movie would not have been anywhere near what it was. She was brilliant. For Midsommar (2019) Aster enlisted the help of the then relatively unknown Florence Pugh who was wildly awesome as the leading lady of the movie. Midsommar (2019) continues to be one of my all-time favourite horror movies as it reminds me of The Wicker Man (1973) but without all the camp stuff that made it a dashing part of the 1970s. Updated with far more daylight horror than I thought was possible, Ari Aster gave Midsommar (2019) his pastel-coloured folk horror edge - a characteristic I feel he desperately needs to bring back.

My Unpopular Film Opinions (Pt.2)
You knew this was coming. Ever since I gave you an updated list of my unpopular film opinions, I have been more than wondering about the ones that I had to leave out for the sake of the length of the article. Some of these have been branded as 'controversial' by people I have actually told them to and others have lost me contacts. Honestly though, if you have such a strong opinion about a movie that you simply cannot accept anyone else's opinion then please, do not read the rest of this article. It's probably going to hurt. Now, without wasting too much time, let's move on to five of my unpopular film opinions and why I hold them. And always remember: there is no such thing as a subjectively good/bad movie.
