'Survivor: Island of the Idols' Premiere
Wow! I am loving this season of Survivor so far and it just began! This is amazing! I love the cast, I love Boston Rob & Sandra, I love the twists, I love everything about it! This season started out so different, no official "marooning," no sight of Jeff Probst, just Vokai and Lairo both arriving at their beaches and getting started. That is wonderful. From Janet starting the fire to Missy's wonderful story about how she went through the air force, having a brain tumor, and then surviving it, and getting on Survivor. That is just amazing. I also especially love the paranoia as to "What does Island of the Idols mean." That is very fascinating to witness. It put a big target on Jason at Vokai, who right away went to search for the idol. And at Lairo, Elaine, Tom & Vince created their alliance, though, they were gone for so long the other seven kind of figured out what was going on, and decided for them to align with each other. Though, later on, Elaine found this out after showing off her likability and aligning with the other women on her tribe. And also, Ronnie didn't like how likable she was. So, he pretended to align with her, but really was targeting her. Elaine though, she was smart enough to see through it, even if he was using his poker playing skills to convince her. So, there's clearly a rift between Ronnie & Elaine. At Vokai, Noura told Jason about his target since he reminds her of her ex. Also, Dan was being way too touchy for his own good, creeping out all of the women on the tribe, mainly Kellee, who spoke to him about it. So hopefully he's gonna realize that it's pretty creepy to touch and massage girls without consent and he should try and fix his social skills. Jack made some friends and found a squirting clam, so that was extremely entertaining, and Tommy showed off his skills as a fourth grade teacher to bond with people, making alliances with pretty much everyone, including a main six.

Film Review: 'Tall Girl'
All her life, Jodi Kreyman (Ava Michelle) has struggled with the one thing everyone notices her for: her 6'1 height, as at 16, she finds herself ostracized as "The Tall Girl" and branded countless other cruel nicknames—with her main tormentor being Queen Bee Kimmy Stitcher (Clara Wilsey). The onslaught of bullying has left Jodi's self-worth in shambles, and not even the encouragement of her best friends Fareeda and Jack (Anjelika Washington and Griffin Gluck) is enough to break her from her funk.

The Many Talents of Bob Hope
Bob Hope was among my favorite actors and performers. He was never what you could call a handsome movie star, but he was very likable. I enjoyed watching him in the movies and on TV, and his smile was always infectious. On May 29, 2003 this wonderful personality celebrated his 100th birthday. There were about 35 US states which declared this to be Bob Hope Day.

'The Height of the Storm'
Robert Massimi. Plays about old age can vary significantly; from Waverly Gallery to On Golden Pond, it can be sad, humorous, devastating, or confusing. With great acting in in this play, it is still the latter that is The Height Of The Storm. The audience is never sure what is going on throughout the performance. We grapple with the death of either the husband Andre (Johnathan Pryce), or his wife Madeline (Eileen Atkins). Never sure where the show will take us, we watch these two legends perform magnificently.

Come On Down to The Dancehall
This was a long read for me. It had nothing to do with the quality of the book (because it was a great book with an interesting story), but I just couldn’t seem to get my mind to focus on reading the past couple of weeks. My aunt recommended this book to me, and I am glad that she did, because it was the perfect combination of everything I enjoy in a book: a little bit of mystery, a dash of scandal, a touch of betrayal, and—of course—a hunt for the truth behind a murder that happened more than twenty years ago.

Lifetime Review: 'My Little Girl Is Gone'
For designer Stephanie Esker (Sarah Lind), her life is quickly coming together. In addition to her business taking off, she is engaged to be married to money manager Jameson Seaverson (Robb Derringer). While Stephanie is still contending with the presence of her ex-husband Henry (Philip Boyd), who still wants Stephanie back, Stephanie is looking forward to starting a wonderful new life for herself and her 11-year-old daughter Caitlin (Dylan Raine Woods).

Role Models?
I recently had a friend visit, and when he left, I noticed two Hollywood magazines he'd left behind. For fun, I started flipping through them. There were actually times I laughed out loud. The best part is that after 10 years of not watching television, I only knew about 10% of the celebrities. Celebrities and their lives for all to see are simply ongoing parables or often a paradox for our viewing pleasure.

Lifetime Review: 'My Daughter Must Live'
With her troubling grades and withdrawn demeanor, Regan O'Malley (Joelle Carter) has become increasingly concerned with her 16-year-old daughter Katie (Madeleine Martin). While Regan initially suspects drugs to be the culprit behind Katie's change, the true cause is revealed after two frightening incidents land the teen in the hospital: she's suffering from liver failure, and is in need of a transplant if she has any hope of survival.

When Animated Worlds Collide
As children, we all had our daydreams about what would happen if our favorite fictional characters were to ever meet. A personal favorite of mine was if all the Saturday morning cartoon shows of the 1980s were to team up in an epic crossover event. You would be hard pressed to come up with a superteam that would be more beloved and rooted for than that of Transformers, He-Man and She-Ra, The Real Ghostbusters, GI Joe, Thundercats, Voltron, My Little Pony, Jem and the Holograms, M.A.S.K., DC’s Superfriends, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Unfortunately, our childhood minds didn’t understand the complexities of intellectual property copyrights, which would stop such inter-promotional stories from happening due to legal battles over which company would get how much of the profits. Thankfully, we’re living in a world where the Avengers movie franchise has grossed over $6 billion across four movies, and now every company wants in on that sweet crossover money. One such example is this pairing of Batman and the Ninja Turtles, which would have completely blown my mind… had I seen it when I was twelve years old.

Zim, Zim, Zala Bim
There will probably always be timeless tales that will be told and retold over the course of humanity’s existence. One such tale is “a boy and his (fill in the blank).” There’s “a boy and his dog.” There’s “a boy and his giant robot.” And there’s “a boy and his alien from outer space.” Obviously, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is the most successful and influential version of that last example. Except in that story, it was about a boy befriending a lost and harmless alien, and doing his best to keep him a secret. I wouldn’t be surprised if the creator of Invader Zim thought to himself, “What if the alien wasn’t so harmless, and the boy was trying to expose the alien as the danger that he is?" I'm glad to say that the results are quite hilarious.
