Trevor WellsPublished 4 years ago in Geeks5 Fantasy Book Series to Read Before Their Upcoming TV Adaptations
Game of Thrones is the perfect example of an epic fantasy saga that started life as a bestselling novel series before being adapted into a television series. The fact that the HBO medieval drama went on to become the most watched and awarded television show of all time is arguably why a slew of fantasy book-to-TV adaptations are coming our way, including The Witcher, Shadow and Bone, and His Dark Materials.

Chances are that you haven't heard of one of my favorite authors/fellow bibliophiles, but you have seen her books if you like to frequent libraries or bookstores. Her books may have looked you in the eyes, daring you to read them, but you didn't have the time or the fortitude. You might've picked it up and liked what you saw, but again where's the time?
Kathryn ParkerPublished 4 years ago in GeeksThe 10 Commandments of Movie Theatre Etiquette
We're heading into the Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Years movie season and before 2019 is over your local cinema is going to be packed. There will be sequels to Frozen and Jumanji bringing in the family demographic. Other movie-goers will flock to see another Tom Hooper directed adaption of a hit broadway musical, a Tom Hanks starring Mr. Rogers biopic and a Rian Johnston directed Murder Mystery. To add to the craziness, a little film called Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going to be bringing every person in the world to a movie theatre.
Ben McVittiePublished 4 years ago in GeeksIs Animation Better Than Live-Action?
From animation to live-action . The year was 1994, and I was twelve years old when I saw Disney's The Lion King, I loved the animated version it was original; it was cute and funny. The story was well written and had the right message. The voice actors that got chosen for the film were amazing and fit the characters like a glove.

Hollywood is in the business of making unrealistic stories become realities. Unfortunately, studio executives have been in this business for too long, and as a result, they set unrealistic expectations for their products. Many executives wish for a franchise that can be dusted off the shelf every couple of years, have a new installment made, and the cash cow be milked for decades to come. Terminator is just not that kind of franchise. The first two installments were timeless classics (I prefer the second movie though), but they told a story that came to a natural conclusion, with nowhere else to go. But of course, that never stops Hollywood, and so three sequels/reboots were made, and sure enough, two of those three movies were just more of the same of the first two movies. Now, for what could be one last time, a sixth installment is trying to catch lightning in a bottle, and frankly, they missed yet again.
Fanpicked MediaPublished 4 years ago in GeeksEquality: Are We Chasing a Unicorn?
Equality; the state of being equal, especially in status, rights or opportunities. It can be hard to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. Every individual has their own set of struggles as we try to do the best we can with our lives. As we get older, more struggles and obstacles become apparent after the ones we manage to overcome—but not everyone was put at the same starting position. Some were given a head start; they were born with a little extra status or wealth and while the security of their future is not guaranteed, if they play their cards right that head start will lead them on a path to success. Others were put at the back of the pack, unable to obtain the same opportunities as others merely through the circumstances of their birth. Perhaps their hard work will pay off later in life, perhaps they’ll get lucky, or maybe they’ll get left behind in the dust. We don’t know what the future holds for every individual, but surely we should be doing all that we can to ensure that everyone gets a fair shot in the beginning?

Cast members of Stage 284’s Into The Woods trying to find their way through the wood. Photo credits to Jessica Guest. Running through the woods and avoiding a singing wolf, an evil giant, and two singing princes, I made it just in time to see Into the Woods at Stage 284.
Marielle SabbagPublished 4 years ago in GeeksThe Power of #MorphinMonday
It's Morphin Time! Greetings, Vocal readers. The month of November has arrived and it's also my birthday month. In fact, my birthday is coming up in about a week. So I'm looking forward to seeing another year. In this article, I'm talking about Power Rangers, specifically #MorphinMonday. This hashtag, which has well over 1,000 posts on Instagram, holds true to Power Rangers fans everywhere. About two months ago, I attended Arkansas Comic Con and Jason David Frank was one of the guests during that weekend. I was fortunate enough to not only do a photo op with him, but also shook his hand and said it was nice to meet him. Before attending this con, I've never met any Power Rangers star, but I did just that and knocked off an item from my bucket list. It was an exciting experience, because this was a guy that I grew up watching. In case you haven't seen my Arkansas Comic Con review and how my meeting with Jason David Frank went, I'll post a link to it at the end of this article so you can read it yourself. I'll be meeting David Yost, who played the Blue Ranger, at Galaxycon in Louisville, Kentucky two and a half weeks from now. I'll have my Legacy Blue Ranger figure with me for him to sign and going as Lord Gyaradrakkon.
Mark Wesley PritchardPublished 4 years ago in GeeksMy Review of Arsenio Hall: 'Smart and Classy'
I'm not familiar with any of Arsenio Hall's stand-up sets so I wasn't sure what I was going to get into when I chose to watch his new special on Netflix. This could very well be his very first comedy special because it really feels like it because it could have went through a few more tweaking before being released. It didn't seem as polished as it should have been.
Brian AnonymousPublished 4 years ago in GeeksDo You Have a Reading List for 2020?
Being a bookworm is not that easy. You have to really love reading! As the year 2019 approaches towards the end I believe we are all planning on our New Year resolutions. This is when, I, for one, love settling my list of books to read for the next year. All the Christmassy vibes and the New Year vibes just makes you skip a beat.
Monalisa RoyPublished 4 years ago in GeeksStrong Direction and Its Effects
Robert Massimi. With all the Off Off (We Are Going To Stay Just There), many plays out shine others and for one simple reason, strong direction. A strong director is able to tighten up its cast; a play is able to thrive if it is directed well. A director's view of what the play should be can even make a badly written play look bearable. In today's theater, we see many of the Off Off (used a lot for experimental theater) trying to be avant-garde. That's not the problem, however, Off Off has always been avant-garde, the problem is that it deals too much with climate change, LGBTQ, and man issues, as in we had them.
