Leading Causes of Fatal Injuries in Children and Teenagers
It’s always unfortunate when you read about children and young people suffering severe or fatal injuries in an accident, especially one that could have been prevented. During the summertime it’s common to read about hot car deaths or children involved in drowning accidents. However, some of the most common accidents that young people suffer from, especially teenagers, are car accidents. According to research from The New England Journal of Medicine, motor vehicle crashes accounted for 20% of deaths among children ages 1 to 19 years old. The second most common cause of fatal injuries are accidents related to firearms, followed by unintentional poisoning. Some accidents cannot be avoided, but by enforcing safe driving rules and discussing the dangers of firearms and drugs, you could prevent a loved one from sustaining serious injuries.

Pre-Quarantine
My last normal weekend was March 6th through 8th. My son and I always have movie nights on Fridays. I am a single mother with three jobs, but always made sure I had Tuesdays and Fridays off specifically for my son. Tuesdays are discounted movie theatre ticket days. Cheap tickets, a bucket of popcorn and a large Coke to share was our night out. Fridays consisted of stopping at Wal-Mart to rummage through their $3 to $5 movie bins, then a stop the Dollar Tree for snacks, then home to watch the movie we just picked out and eat junk food for dinner. These were our nights in, and they were my favorite. You have to enjoy the little things right?

The change was fast.
COVID-19 has provided me with the opportunity to reflect in my life to see where I am now, why I am where I am. Quarantine helps me to think about what I can do now to put myself in a better position. I reflect on why I do things the way I did, what was working and what was not working. While I reflect, I look at one of the largest life events that has changed my life forever. One of the biggest life events was my mother's death when I was aged 13. Just after I woke up on a Monday morning in Belize City, I showered and did my everyday routine and got ready for school. I brushed my teeth, ironed my uniform, and then dressed while my brother took a shower as well.

Crazy Life
Life has been one tough long road and when I think I'm on top. Nope, I am there for a little while before something else happens and knocks me down. The thing is no matter how hard it gets I get back up, though there have plenty of times it looked better to quit.

Normal
November 2019 The air filled with children’s contagious laughter and the uplifting smell of fresh barbecue sizzling to a finish on a grill. Decorative streamers taunted the wind as guests waited patiently for our arrival, Dorian had kept this party a surprise from me for a couple of weeks as they all planned it together. I had to admit I was impressed because when it came to organization and making sure all details had be prepped, Dorian didn’t seem to fall in that category but he did recognize how hard I had been working the past few months and that was all I could ask.

Addiction
It's one of the drafts i kept. Thought i might share one today, so it won't get lost in time~ So i guess.... Enjoy. :) That sweet sensation slips through my tongue. Good lord , what a perfect balance between milk and chocolate. It's so sweet and milky and i can't really get tired of the flavor . I can't stop drinking it constantly. Some when i go to events. Some when i sit down for lunch or for work. Some when i miss that sugary milkiness again . I do love my cute little beverage. All this sipping varying from being innocent to just plain aggressive. I try to think back, and see what my wave of sensation is leading me. So i sip down my chocolate milk slowly , as i progressively flow back to when i was younger , the start of this sugary addiction.

Something Deep Down
Do you ever sit there and ask yourself why am I who I am? Why was I placed in this skin that I hate so much? I cant stand myself sometimes. I want to switch places with someone else. Why wasn't I born with glowing skin and zero fat? Why don't I have a shining personality? Why do I feel like an outcast everywhere I go?
