Glenbrook Village Vol. 1
Towards the end of 2020 my friends and I started a podcast. As many group projects go it has been challenging, but we have still been able to piece together 11 episodes. The podcast is called The Glenbrook Village Podcast and is available on Spotify & Apple Podcasts . We discuss everything and anything on the podcast, no topic is off limits. Throughout our first couple of episodes we have discussed the pandemic, the election, the great reset, football, music, basketball and many more.
Why I Am Taking a Break From Listening to Country Music
When I was younger, I pretty much listened to country music exclusively. Believe me, being the only country music fan in a high school pumped up on AC/DC or Guns N' Roses was not an easy row to hoe. One gets teased mercilessly when one shows up at school in a Judds t-shirt. Oddly enough, based on my social media feeds, many of the kids at school who completely rejected country music have openly embraced it as they have gotten older.

Life can be really complicated. Especially if you have no outlet. K-Pop is mine. To the people who only know BTS and Blackpink, there are more music in the K-Pop world that can suit your taste. I have a girl group that best suits my taste in music. Mamamoo.

mysoundMusicPublished 3 years ago in BeatIndependent R&B Soul Artist Jeiris Cook records inspiring song entitled Dreams
A throwback to his R&B roots, Jeiris Cook releases an EP that looks to inspire the masses to dream big through personal experience. A procedure to remove 3 wisdom teeth in June, left Cook with his jaw wired shut until early August. Undeterred, Cook sang the chorus entirely through clenched teeth, giving greater resonance to the release’s title. This will be the third single of 2020 for the up and coming artist. The project was released on December 16th, 2020 on all digital platforms, and Dreams has been placed on over 15 Spotify Playlists.

Vibeke Stene's new band, Veil of Secrets dropped a new album in November and I thought it was really good. It reminded me so much of the earlier Tristania albums and I had a list of things I wanted to write and ranking Tristania albums was on there. They're one of my favourite bands and even though they've been on a hiatus for a while, I really hope they release some new music next year.

One of the first songs I bought on iTunes for my iPod Classic was #1 Crush by Garbage. I had stumbled across it on Youtube and fell in love with Shirley Mason's sultry vocals. The moaning in the track's introduction is a great touch to the song and helps make the song sound sexy—the depth of the lyrics and hard-hitting music. Listening to the song makes me think of the '90s now. The 1990s brought a renaissance to many music genres, particularly grunge and bubblegum pop. Garbage, in my opinion, falls into neither of those categories. Garbage is a great rock band with an alternative flavour.

An Imaginary Soundtrack to 2020
This playlist was a tough one to whittle down, but I eventually settled on the following selection of 66 songs, each from a different artist, ranging across a wide array of genres and moods. I arranged them into this very particular order that you see here, as a means of creating a good tonal ebb and flow, and also finding decent matches between the end of one song, and the beginning of the next. However, you can always play it on shuffle mode, and it ought to work just fine. I hope you enjoy...
Jack Anderson KeanePublished 3 years ago in Beat 2020 Rewind: Look for the Silver Lining
Twenty-twenty, what can I say in hindsight other than it was like we were all thrown into the cast of the wildest and most suspenseful live action film in all of human history. Sometimes it even seems like the last few centuries replayed, only within the span of a single year.
Danielle DeutschPublished 3 years ago in Beat10 Pop Hits That Made 2020 A Little Bit Better
2020 was a heck of a year for most people, truth be told it was unlike anything any of us had ever seen, for many people it was a year of solitude, uncertainty, and longing. For me it was the year I finished school, the year I started this blog, and the year I told my family that I’m a lesbian. While many found solidarity in the idea that everyone was also, to varying degrees, affected by the same force. Still, there were times when we had nowhere to turn but music. Today I’m sharing a playlist with you of 10 red hot bops that made 2020 a little bit better.

When I think of how 2020 began, what comes to mind are the barrage of social media posts claiming that 2020 would be "our year" and better yet a revival of the roaring 20's. This prompted me to imagine the year starting off like the epic party scene from The Great Gatsby with Fergie's "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody" blasting in the background.
