Life can be really complicated. Especially if you have no outlet. K-Pop is mine. To the people who only know BTS and Blackpink, there are more music in the K-Pop world that can suit your taste. I have a girl group that best suits my taste in music. Mamamoo.

Mamamoo's fans, moomoos, were overwhelmed by how well they were fed this year. Each member had released songs that their fans definitely enjoyed.

Starting with Mamamoo's main rapper and main dancer, Moonbyul. She came out with a full album in February. A concept that she's been longing to try, she definitely shined in our eyes, and exceeding Moomoo's expectations. She's always been androgynous, and this time around she came back with a title song that pushed against gender stereotypes, Eclipse. Proving her talents, she showed off her duality as a singer and fierce rapper. Not to mention the added bonus of her choreography, known as a more masculine style of dance, she shone through, not letting herself get left behind during her stage. Starting strong with Eclipse, Moomoo's hearts melted as she ended the album with Snow. Snow is a sweet ballad song that Moonbyul released for moomoos on her birthday in 2019. Proving her unlimited talents but also her love for Mamamoo fans. She also did a collaboration with a friend, Punch on her song Say Yes, which sounds and feels so much different than the first version. Senior idol, Jea also contacted Moonbyul to feature in her song Greedy which is playful and cute BOP that you need to listen to. Only thing left is for her to drop an OST for us.

Mamamoo's leader and main vocalist, Solar followed after Moonbyul in April. She came out with her bold single, Spit It Out. It has Latin guitar riff and unique sounds, minimal bass and percussion to highlight Solar’s amazing vocals. Spit it out gives a message of challenging new things and giving it your all. In the music video, you can her challenging the beauty standards of her entertainment industry by appearing bald in the video. And that doesn’t stop moomoos from loving her, if possible we love her even more for the fact that she came up with the idea, looking gorgeous I might add. Being a talented vocalist, she recently released a beautiful OST for the drama Run On. Patiently waiting for her to come up with more brilliant ideas and songs.

Mamamoo’s youngest, vocalist and rapper, Hwasa comes back next in June, quenching Moomoo’s thirst in the summer heat. Coming back with a full album, Maria is an album where you could feel a rollercoaster of emotions. Starting with her intro song, Nobody else a short ballad that’s about self love. Next is her title song, Maria, which is a meaningful song with a catchy chorus. The lyrics saying how haters criticize her and want her to break down, but she tells herself that she beautiful and that she doesn’t have to drive herself crazy for critics. Her music video is as beautiful as the message she wants to spread. Plus all of the members happy and coming together is one of the things that a moomoo wishes to see. She also has Kidding, written by Zico, which is a playful upbeat song that’s just so fun to listen to. There’s also the collaboration with DPR live, that’s laid back but has a playful melody that’s easy to listen to. Ending the the album with her solo debut song, Twit. A catchy song that you just wouldn’t be able to get out your system. Being one South Korea’s It girl, she’s also very in demand when it comes to other artists. Hyori wanted her in her girl group (Refund Sisters), Dua Lipa featured Hwasa in her song Physical, Onewe(RBW colleagues) also collaborated with Hwasa on their song Q. To top it off, Hwasa blessed us with an OST for the drama The King: Eternal Monarch.

For Mamamoo’s vocalist and lead dancer, Wheein, she hadn’t been able to make a comeback this year, but she did gift Moomoos amazing OSTs. In May, she released a song, With My Tears, for a drama called Hospital Playlist. A song that just melts your ears when hear her melodic voice. She released another OST song called Shine On You for Record of Youth (a drama on Netflix with Park Sodam, Solar’s friend.) it’s a sweet love song that just makes you want to fall in love. A talented vocalist, different artist wants her voice featured in their songs. Jvde Milez’s Miss U, Din Din’s do do do do, Peakboy’s Diet, and Basick’s When it snows mmm.

Before the summer ended, Mamamoo was featured in Rain’s Let’s Dance, an upbeat fun song fit for summer.

In September, Mamamoo surprised us with Wanna Be Myself, a commercial single for a clothing brand. But to be honest, it felt like a comeback with how amazing it was. In the music video, they slayed us with their visuals, vocals, and choreo, while brilliantly showing off the outfits the brand had to offer.

In October, they pre-released a song called Dingga. Dingga is the act of lazily enjoying one’s free time from what I gathered. The music video is retro themed and fun. Including the COVID situation, they added scenes of video chatting and the girls even wore stylish masks. It’s a serious BOP that makes you want to dance.

In November, they officially came back with Aya. A song Moonbyul helped composed. Moonbyul explains that it’s “about wanting to get rid of lingering feelings about parting even by pulling out rotten ones.” Definitely a song leaving the moomoo’s wanting more.

Before the year ended, Moonbyul released a song on her birthday like she did every year. A sweet song about Christmas, that I enjoyed as a sweet ending for 2020.

During these these times of COVID, Mamamoo helped me stay sane with their music, hopefully they keep making more wonderful music.
