Have you ever felt this way?
Has this ever happened to you? Just sitting by and waiting for an opportunity for the coach to call your name and he never does. Then like every time before you go home broken and dejected your feelings hurt. You feel like you are a contributor because you don't miss practice and you give one hundred percent but, your coach feels you aren't good enough. Then a game like this one as described in the song happens and the coach doesn't understand why.

Treasure Your Grandparents
My Grandmothers were both wonderful women. Both grew up on a farm and had to work hard. My fathers mother was born September 6, 1907 and passed away June 23, 2008. She is the one I want to reference and tell you about. Grandparents aren't supposed to have favorites, but since I was the first grandchild, I was her favorite. She always told me growing up "momma couldn't wait until you were born." But my great grandmother died in August 1960 and I was born in November 1960. On the day I came home, her and my other grandmother got into an argument over who was holding me on the drive home. My mother's mother won that argument, but I won her heart.

Armed Forces Salute
Every man and woman who put on a uniform no matter the branch have one thing in common, we all served. Ask the Army veteran who was saved by a Marine does he really care which branch the man was in, he will probably say no. The Marines will say that they have the right to question those of us in the Army about our parentage. But as my best friend who went into the Marines and I the Army said, the sailor, soldier, coastie and airman, are my little brothers and sisters and only I get to pick on them. Anyone from outside that has never served has no right to criticize.

Largest Worldwide Concert
A lot of people don't even like this man. Growing up you had two types of individuals. They either said Elvis was a great actor but a terrible singer, or a terrible actor and a great singer. This performance of the American trilogy is terrific. Elvis really slimmed down for this performance. They say It was the first time satellite technology was used to transmit a live concert around the world. In the 2004 deluxe DVD of Aloha, Elvis Presley Enterprises said the special attracted between 1 billion and 1.5 billion viewers.

What did Meatloaf mean?
As only Meatloaf can tell this story and sing the song behind it. I am sure this has happened to all of us at one time or another. I know it happened to me, but it wasn't a female. I had been dating this boy for about a month and I went to see him. He put this song on, but the words he said to me were I hate you, I hate you, I never ever loved you. Then his mother escorted me out of the house. I learned a valuable lesson that day and it was not all relationships in the gay community work out either.

Bedtime Stories
Growing up neither one of my parents would read me a bed time story. I was told it didn't happen at all, but many of my classmates talked about how their parents read to them until they fell asleep. I was of course jealous of this, but smiled and said that was nice.

Where does the time go?
It almost seems like yesterday, twenty years ago. This song was written, released in 1983 and sung by Kenny Rogers. This song talks about how much easier and simpler life was back then. He is correct, even now looking back to 2001 things were easier. Now twenty years later our country is on the verge of collapse and no one seems to notice.

Old Glory
The first amendment of the constitution gives the right to free speech and freedom from government sanctioned religion. The US Supreme Court made a ruling that said it protected burning the flag of this great nation. This should piss off every red blooded American. It doesn't because our children have been indoctrinated to hate this country, from it's history to it's fight on terror. The current Vice President believes every monument and statue needs to come down and we need to tear down our nation to start over.

Excommunicated at 14
When I was fourteen I was caught in the arms and bed of a sexy little boy just three years my junior. Problem is I was also a boy and this was the 1970's. I mention this story in my book Silent Cries, A Memoir. Why do I mention this here? I am starting to advocate more for gay youth as I know the first hand challenges they face. What was it like to be excommunicated by the Pastor and Youth Pastor? It was very difficult as a teenager to understand what was going on and why. The family attended an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church with strict adherence to the bible. Being gay wasn't allowed nor would they discuss it with you.

Two vulnerable groups
I have many hobbies and interest which has motivated me over the years. I am passionate about writing, photography and traveling. I have several passions though, one is The Trevor Project and the other one is veterans issues. It is reported that twenty-two veterans commit suicide every day in America. There are a number of reasons why, but one is our veterans who return home with non visible wounds, such as PTSD have to fight a government unwilling to pay us what we deserve.

To thine own self be true
In this video Johnny Paycheck says he feels like an old violin soon to be put away and never played again. How many times have you ever felt this way? Or how many times have you felt like you don't belong no matter how hard you try? I have felt that way many times but the most uncomfortable was at church. I didn't seem to fit in with the congregation, oh I was accepted just didn't feel welcome. That can really be unnerving and intimidating. There have been numerous times in my life that I felt like this. I will discuss a couple of them.
