Chasing Waterfalls
The undergrowth was growing thicker around me. Twigs and leafs were jammed in my hair. My heels were finding it more difficult to navigate the moss covered rocks underfoot. Okay, maybe this wasn't the smartest of ideas. I'm sure I could have found a path if I had looked for one. I was feeling my positive, adventurous energy drain away as the negative thoughts grew louder and more intrusive. What are you doing here Jane? You've completely lost the plot. What kind of grown woman does this? I suddenly felt my foot slip and my balance dissolved entirely. My hand automatically reached out to find support but instead found itself grasped tightly around a thorny branch that shredded my delicate skin. My ankle twisted under the weight of my body and I found myself on the ground, bleeding from my palm with a searing pain in my right foot.

Death by Chocolate
My family descended from a long line of Cocoa farmers and home-makers. Father worked long, arduous hours in the hot fields, priding himself on how well he cared for the cocoa. He loved each and every plant with his whole heart. which is likely why our trees went on to bear more fruits than any other in the Plantation's history. He taught me that love is the most valuable and precious energy that exists.

Naked Encounters
Swimming back from the waterfall, I realised that this was the most adventure I had experienced in years. I barely did anything for fun anymore. I used to paint but even that stopped when I was overwhelmed by uni work and life became so busy throughout my twenties. From my internship to the career ladder, maintaining friendships and starting new relationships; there was never time. I thought about how I used to sing and dance around the house just because I felt good, when did that last happen? I pulled my frozen body out of the water and sat for a moment on the moss covered rock. The air was freezing, but I didn't have a towel on this impromptu skinny dip so I needed to dry off a little before redressing.

Could You Be Sober Curious?
The bar trade was one I grew up within from the impressionable age of 10. Watching adults drink foul smelling liquids until they could no longer walk unaided, speak without slurring words and chain smoking cigarettes until they were sick or passed out were familiar and confusing sights to me.

Behind The Lens ๐ช๐ธ๐ช
Location I was absolutely delighted to escape my quarantine hotel one Wednesday In Sri Lanka, having being invited on Safari to Yala National Park. This was my first time seeing these majestic mammals in the wild and it was a truly magical experience. We had a 2.5 hour car journey to get to the park, where we transferred into a massive open jeep that could comfortably accommodate x6. There was only myself, the guide and the kind Colombian who had invited me as his guest. Absolutely perfect for allowing me to climb around in search of good angles for photographs. Shoes off, crouching, kneeling, hanging out the sides...the roof... you name it I was doing it!

Dear Betty
I have started this letter three times over in attempt to find some clever way to say what I am feeling. The challenge is to write a letter to the strongest woman I know. Of course you came first to mind. How could you not? I tried writing this in form of a poem. It didn't work. I tried using fancy language like I would in an essay. It didn't work. And so. This time I just want to pour our words from my heart to yours.

Why Space Travel is $190,000 Cheaper from Sri Lanka
So. I'm in Sri Lanka having coffee with my newest acquaintance (and now good friend) Tsoroshan. We are a little hungover (these were the days when I still drank alcohol) and dealing with it in very different ways. I am tucking into a massive plate of traditional dhal curry, coconut sambal and paratha bread with a fresh mango smoothie as he sips delicately on his black coffee and sparks another cigarette.

Little Black Notebooks
Vince lay on the roof outside his window gazing into the clear night's sky. Despite the light pollution of Edinburgh city, it was still possible to see the hundreds of stars that glittered above his head. He closed his eyes and invited Lena to join him, feeling the soft caress of her hair as she cuddled into his chest. The warmth of her skin and how perfectly the curvature of her body fit against his was so deeply imprinted on him that it almost felt real. Lena's essence was still very much alive inside Vince's heart. Her love had been so vibrant, so powerful, that even two years after the accident he still found it easy to imagine her next to him.
