One more Spoon
“Just one more spoon, promise”: LaSalle Caribbean is the heart of Lasalle. They offer more than a well-priced and good meal; they have been part of the community for longer than 1990; what? I cannot remember. Being a child born and raised in the income housing units five minutes away, young JAF and her neighborhood friends would hustle for change to get a patty. Yes, patty before Candy, please. I know many of you reading can remember the “I need change to call home?” lie. Terrible on our end; we used that line so much I am surprised we still have our teeth. That lie, however, burst our taste buds and brought us to a very family-oriented business with great music, service, conversation, and at one point in a once upon a time club feeling type of atmosphere. What DO you mean club? JAF’s Jamaican parents embraced their culture: Her father, born in Canada but raised in Jamaica with his grandparents, was the former president of the black association of Lasalle and would often bring her and her little brother for roti’s on ‘take out’ night. Lasalle Caribbean was and is the GOAT, and the IRONY of my father loving off their goat roti just brought forth the association, ‘they are the closes thing to a Jamaican grandma’s kitchen.’ Lasalle Caribbean is food for the soul.

The Horizon
Here I am sitting in a bedroom the size of an average apartment, watching the canvas my father painted of his yacht. My father has dreams of bringing his ship to the horizon and finding treasure. My mom's a popular phycologist, has written books, and worked with famous people and almost every politician of our century. My younger sister is at Harvard studying law. My brother's a McGill and Harvard graduate. He is now a travailing DR. Then you got me, the high school dropout who hopes to one day model. My parents say they support me, regardless of my decisions, but we all know that helicopter and authoritative parents are bound to be disappointed, but they will not tell me.

Dear Diary
Some say the people and memories in their lives have changed since the start of COVID. I say COVID allowed people to reveal themselves. It may not be the best memory, but memories were still created; why is this important? Because memories are what we thrive on sharing later in life as wisdom or for laughter. So what exactly can Jess A.Fox say to provide individuals with knowledge or laughter?

But I'm VEGETARIAN
"But I'm vegetarian," something you might hear on a game or fight night by me. Toto on Notre-Dame in Lachine for the save. Toto is the only Italian pizzeria to offer a seafood pizza. Yes, many, and I am sure every pizzeria has a vegetarian pizza, but what about seafood? I am new to this restaurant and vegetarian lifestyle; therefore required a lot of research on restaurants to adapt to my diet. I cannot mention the number of times I have stopped at random restaurants with friends, and the menu would not have anything available for me. As a result, I give Toto three stars. They come highly recommended by a client of mine and are located in the heart of Lachine, "Notre Dame." Upon arrival, you feel welcomed; the pizzeria has televisions for a game and the occasional fight night.
