How To Survive a Kidnapper or Mugger Situation
So I haven’t written anything in a while because of personal things going on in my life. There is something that hits very close to home that I feel I should write about. My cousin was recently attacked on a Manhattan subway and is currently in a coma with possibly lasting brain damage. Also, I have personal experience regarding this topic, and I feel that people should be more educated in what they need to do in regards to self-defense in the event that a mugger comes in contact with them or they are taken against their will. In my cousin’s case it was a mugger, which also happened at a store I worked at a few years back when a gunman came in to rob the joint.

Suicide Awareness
It will be two years on June ninth and I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Sitting on my bed that night when my phone rang. Which was odd considering the time of the night… my mother never called me that late so I knew that it must have been important. I can remember her voice saying that my uncle had chosen to end his life merely an hour before she called. My heart raced as tears filled my eyes. And I remember that all I could say was “No,” over and over again. It was a constant loop that echoed through my lips. You see we all knew that my uncle suffered from depression; there was even a point when he had to go to rehab for drug/alcohol addiction. Which all runs in the family, but nobody said anything or really even tried to help. Not even when he purchased the gun. A week before I had sent him an e-mail trying to reach out, but it went unanswered. Now here I am trying to hopefully raise some awareness about suicide.

Tips for Coping with PTSD
I want to start by saying that PTSD by definition is a condition that is diagnosed to those who have either witnessed a traumatic or have experienced a traumatic event in their lives. For instance and I am going to be completely honest by saying this, I have been molested as a child and raped as an adult. I found my boyfriend dead on our bathroom floor when I was 19. At one point when I was in my early twenties, I was homeless and I saw a lot… that is when the rape occurred. Back then I was lost as well as broken. A broken empty shell of a person that jumped from one abusive relationship to another. The last abusive relationship damn near killed me, literally. There was one night I can remember even praying for death because the pain was just too much to bear. After I finally was able to leave I found myself at a shelter for the battered and abused women. It was then that I began therapy, started college, moved into my apartment, and was diagnosed with PTSD. I still struggle with the anxiety, nightmares, and depression. So I know what it is like and I am here to help with coping mechanisms.

Why Love Causes Pain
Love is a force that can not be reckoned with. Bigger than anyone can even imagine. Love is inherently free and you cannot make someone love you. It cannot be turned on as a reward or off as a punishment. Of course, that doesn’t mean that we can use love as a way to be destructive or abusive to another living thing. Love is also inherently compassionate and empathetic. But it also brings about pain. Which I can imagine we have all felt at some point maybe during a breakup.

The Villisca Axe Murder House
When I was a child I lived not too far away from Villisca, Iowa. And growing up we always heard the stories from way back in the day. Even if a decade had passed, the tragedy of what had occurred between June 9th and June 10th, 1912 still haunted the town of Villisca as well as pretty much every single town that surrounded. Ghost stories spread among the children about what happened during those days. And parents would use the stories as a form of getting their children to behave. Well here is what really happened…

Is Monogamy Natural?
I just want to start off by saying that I think if one finds the right person and falls in love then why not settle for monogamy. However, that has not happened in my life so, in my opinion, I prefer to play the field. Personally, I feel that love is just your body producing dopamine when you meet someone that you are attracted to. Therefore, you have this euphoric feeling of love. Once again it is just my opinion and I’ll let you form your own once you read my article.

My Experiences with Autism
Autism is a brain disorder that makes it difficult for the affected to communicate or relate to others. It is something that I am all too familiar with since my little brother suffers from it. For years he didn’t speak and when he finally started too only a few people could understand him. He also could not and still can not sit still for long periods of time. My brother is constantly rocking back and forth with repetitive hand motions as well as head motions that sway back and forth. He doesn’t like his daily routine interrupted because it is what he is used too. All through school he was in special education classes which were difficult for both of us. Teasing was something that was regular.

Health Benefits of Masturbation
Up to 95 percent of men and 89 to 92 percent of women masturbate, it’s probably safe to say that no one really needs much convincing to keep doing it. Yep, I am going there. So if you are one of those people whom are slightly squeamish and don’t approve of this topic than please avert your eyes. Thank you because I am diving into this one head first, so to speak. And yes I will cover the health benefits for men. However, since I am a woman I will start with the women first. For instance; It has been proven that masturbation has many health benefits. For women, masturbation can help prevent cervical infections and urinary tract infections through the process of "tenting," or the opening of the cervix that occurs as part of the arousal process. But let’s get into some fun facts for you men out there:

Advancements in Biotechnology
It is no secret that we have come a long way with technological advancements within our society. But now there are rumors of possibly bringing back extinct animals…could biotechnology be advanced enough today to complete such a task? Scientists think that it could be done. For those of you that do not know, extinction is when a species of animals dies off; like dinosaurs for instance… The passenger pigeon, the dodo, and the woolly mammoth are just a few of the species wiped off the Earth by changing environments and human activities. Could you imagine walking outside to find a woolly mammoth walking through your yard? The recent advances in biotechnology could enable bringing certain species back from the grave, but critics are arguing that the practice would only hinder conservation efforts by resurrecting creatures that could of course not survive in the wild that they are not used to.
