The Great American Copper Heist
I. The Phenomenon In July 2026, U.S. ports received roughly 200,000 metric tonnes of refined copper. That is the highest monthly inflow since shipping records began in 2014. Over the previous five years, average monthly imports had never exceeded 80,000 tonnes.

The 72-Hour Death of a 24-Year-Old AI Genius
The last week of July 2026. An unnamed secondary market trader sits in his New York apartment, watching three screens. Ice melts in a glass. The market is falling, like a freight train with no brakes. At 3:04 PM, he sends a message to a friend: "Someone's unwinding. Big. Don't know who yet, but the bid is loosening." He doesn't yet know who that someone is: twenty-four-year-old Leopold Aschenbrenner, a former OpenAI superalignment researcher who wrote that long essay about AGI timelines, the young man who managed a $45 billion hedge fund and will vanish from public markets three days from now.

Hunting Down "Space Hymns" By Ramases
Introduction I was not sure where this should go. As you know, I collect vinyl records, but often buy them if they have exceptional artwork. Also, some have become sought after and rare on vinyl, especially early Krautrock albums. I recently captured "Dance Of The Lemmings" by Amon Düül II for £25, but you can check it on eBay and Discogs for what it is going for now.

The Silence Is the Scariest Part: Inside South Korea's Invisible Financial Collapse
I. A Silent Catastrophe In 2026, South Korea’s stock market triggered its circuit breaker for the ninth time. The number itself is staggering, but what lies behind it is even more suffocating: over 1.2 million leveraged retail accounts hit their margin call limits, the equivalent of one in every 30 Korean adults standing at the edge of a cliff. Among them, between 320,000 and 360,000 accounts were forcibly fully liquidated by brokerages. Their principal went to zero. Some even ended up owing money to their brokers. And of those who were wiped out, 62% were young people between the ages of 20 and 30.

He Bragged About a $53 Million Paper Profit on Stage — No One Clapped
The lecture hall in Renmin University's School of Philosophy—early June, the air conditioning not quite doing its job. When Zhang Xiaolong stepped onto the stage, his dark blue suit jacket was already draped over the back of the chair, his white shirt sleeves rolled to mid-forearm. The oversized smartwatch on his left wrist lit up occasionally, the screen showing a jagged line of red and green.

These two companies account for more than half the index's weight, collapsing side by side.

The Pig Who Ate the Market: Stanley Druckenmiller’s Secret Perceptual Machine
In 1979, in a cramped office at Pittsburgh National Bank, a 25‑year‑old stock analyst named Stanley Druckenmiller was trying to persuade his colleagues. The oil‑price shock from the Iranian Revolution had sent markets into panic; the consensus was to retreat and wait. But Druckenmiller saw something entirely different.

What No One Tells You About Becoming a Quant
The first lesson for a beginner is never about strategy. It’s the window on Jukuan where he just downloaded daily frequency data. The cursor blinks at the end of the first line of code. He originally meant to write a 5‑day moving average, but after typing df.info (), what catches his eye first is a few glaring missing values in the non-null count column.

They require no batteries, no firmware updates, and no screens. They run entirely on the physics of kinetic energy.
