Life with a Boston Terrier
This is a list of my observations with my Boston Terrier, Bruin. Mind you, I know some of these traits I can likely break with some hardcore training; however, I wanted you to know first hand, what it has been like so far with this little guy.
The Bourjois Rouge Laques Are So Much More than Just Another Liquid Lipstick
I’m happy to speak for us all when I say, I think we’re at liquid lipstick capacity. From their first appearance one the “scene” a couple of years ago it seems every brand has been pushing out a new “air-light,” “waterproof,” “fully pigmented,” goo in a tube. And while there have been hits, there have been a whole bunch of misses, too. It’s a hard line to walk between too emollient (resulting in a smudge-fest disaster) and too dry (which results in a possibly even less attractive peeling effect). I’m all too happy to start letting this one go: admitting that totally fool-proof lipstick is actually just too big of an ask.

My favourite dive to date wasn’t somewhere exotic and tropical but actually in British waters – the Farne Islands. Anyone who has visited these islands will have seen the large seal colonies that populate the areas and I had the honour of diving amongst these friendly puppy-like creatures.
Jennifer RasalPublished 7 years ago in Petlife"But Women Abuse Men, Too..."
Well, yes, there are women who abuse men. This well-known fact is brought to our attention whenever violence against women is discussed, just so the men don’t feel left out (nothing to do with derailing the original conversation, of course.) But we also know that there are far fewer women that abuse men, than there are men who abuse women. Nothing new learned here. But there is something that can be learned from the domestic violence statistics that may change our assumptions about the way intimate partner abuse manifests itself. There is a pattern along gender lines, but it might not be what you think.
Katy PreenPublished 7 years ago in VivaAdopted Struggle: Clarity
In my last story, I talked a little bit about myself, and I want to be clear about something: I am glad I grew up where I did and was afforded the opportunities that I had. I grew up in a great school, although I never took advantage of it, a great middle-class town. Being Adopted has never really affected me until I received that letter. And that was twenty-eight years. So, what has changed? The answer, clarity.
Nathan StottsPublished 7 years ago in FamiliesTo Smack or Not to Smack?
The debate on smacking is an interesting one in as much as there are not many fence-sitters on this subject: people either have no problem with it at all, saying “I was smacked as a child and it didn’t do me any harm” while others are vehemently against violence of any sort against children. Just using the word “violence” evokes very strong feelings in many who hit their children because they don’t consider smacking a child to be violence. The “no hitting” camp generally believe that we hit our children out of instantaneous anger, frustration, and basically because we don’t know what else to do.

Even though an estimated 75% of adults agree that women have the right to breast feed in public spaces, health officials in Timmins, Ontario felt it is necessary to keep the discussion open. Life size cut outs of breast feeding mothers dot the city in an attempt to ease the discrimination faced by mothers in Ontario and across Canada. Women are illegally asked to cover up, leave an establishment or are verbally attacked by strangers.
