According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more than 8.5 million people in America suffered from substance use disorder and a mental health disorder. Chances of co-occurrence of these disorders are high as addiction impacts both the human body and brain.

What are the main activities for Sober Living? It's a challenging decision because there is no set curriculum for Sober Living. The Golden Rule The golden rule seems like it is a good place since it is basically the underlying principle of my life. Another saying I have always liked that goes hand in hand with this is, if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.
You Should've Cleaned Up Last Night
5:00 am: You despair at the sound of the alarm. You had been chasing sleep for several hours now, and your eyes burn in the darkness from exhaustion. Beside you, tiny hands clutch the seams of your pajamas. You snuggle closer and inhale deeply, basking in his aroma as you caress the little hairs on his head. He smiles in his sleep and you watch him dream for a while. Must be nice, you think to yourself. He sighs as you rise out of bed, and gently tuck him back in. You move quietly across the room, being careful to not wake his older siblings. You’re met with the previous night’s clutter as you shut the bedroom door.

Today is intensely challenging; I’m not sure how I’ll endure. There’s a vibration under my skin that’s twisting and burrowing down to my gut. My family is gathered downstairs for the funeral. I can hear them saying my name, mentioning that I’m still upstairs in my childhood bedroom. I’m frozen solid in the middle of the room. I just can’t bring myself to move a muscle. Many years ago, Dad taught me, “When you notice yourself in a panic, stop, and slowly take two deep breaths. This will ground you to the world – to reality.” So I take a deep breath in; then I let my breath leave my body, slowly…

I Am Way Too Lazy for All That and Isn’t That What I Pay You For? In general I consider myself a take charge kind of guy. Mostly I like to be in control, no matter the situation I am in. However, in one area of my life, my health, I most definitely do not want to be in control. In fact I think I have proven over and over again throughout the course of my life that I am incapable of handling the responsibility. Simply put, I suck at health, specifically I suck at my own health. I am just plain terrible at taking care of myself. When it comes to making healthy choices in food or engaging in healthy, low risk activities I fail again and again. Don’t even get me started on avoiding unhealthy and dangerous habits because I don’t. I am all over those.

I Was So Mad At My Sister That I Almost Let Her Die
We're all one battle away from losing. Although I am the oldest, I never felt like the "big brother." Maybe because my sister was always very mature, tough and she never needed anyone. Most of the time people believed that I was the little brother.
Mindsmatter.Published 3 years ago in PsycheWhat is the peace and purpose of Sober Living
Sober Living in York IL has been around since the early 1980's as an outpatient treatment program for alcohol and drug addicts. In that time many who were "in recovery" have become clients and friends of Sober Living. This treatment is very similar to Alcoholics Anonymous. However, unlike Alcoholics Anonymous, addicts are not totally addicted to drugs or alcohol; they may suffer from withdrawal symptoms when they leave Sober Living.
The Wonderful World of Me
Hello to the ones choosing to read this, I know that you don’t know me or even care about what I have to say but I want to say thank you in advance for taking the time to find out a little more about me and my struggles with mental health and I hope that this helps at least one person. I want to start with my childhood and how the way I was raised affected my views and approach to mental health because I believe that the way a child is brought up will affect the way they see things. When I was growing up I had a few issues that ran the gambit from actual medical issues to more learning issues and some stuff in between. As far as the learning issues went I had a hard time concentrating in class and I would spend a lot of the time just thinking about other things and going from one thing to another, I got a lot “she daydreams a lot” and “has a hard time staying on task”. I couldn’t help it, I would try to focus on work but I would start to think about something and then I was distracted and before I realized what was going on we were on to something else.
