When you can't see eye to eye,

And your trust begins to die,

A gentle warning sound inside,

Your heartache will not subside.

On days filled with misunderstanding

And communication landinding,

It's maybe time for a new plan-

You're in the midst of a toxic relationship man.

Be aware of words and behavior

That don't honor or favor.

Take time to think and pause;

It's how you'll save from all the flaws.

The heart can be a tricky thing,

And what it wants can't be foreseen,

But if in love it loses its spring,

And starts to feel like a routine,

It's time to look and to reflect

On the signs that something's wrong,

To see if the relationship has been wrecked

And needs to be fixed before long.

The trust and the respect have been gone,

And communication's not the same,

The love has shifted, and no matter how hard you try,

It's difficult to reclaim.

The constant resentment and competition,

The rivalries that you must face,

The anger and the criticism,

And the situation's lack of grace.

The arguments that always escalate,

The blame that shifts from side to side,

The overwhelming feeling of hate,

And the feeling of being denied.

The broken promises that fill the air,

The feelings of distrust and fear,

The lack of understanding and care,

All these indicate that something's not clear.

The signs of a toxic relationship

Are all too easy to detect,

If it's causing you pain and distress,

It's time to take a step back and reflect.

It's time to think of a solution

And what you can do to reclaim,

To make sure that your relationship

Is one of love and not of pain.

The key is to communicate

And listen to what your partner has to say,

Work together to find a resolution

That will help you both find a way.

It's important to talk about your feelings

Listen to each other and to understand,

It's important to be honest and sincere

And to make sure that both sides are heard.

It's also important to find balance

And to make sure that each of you is happy,

To make sure that both of you can thrive

And can look forward to a future that's bright.

It's not easy to be in a toxic relationship,

And it takes time and effort to fix,

But it's possible to regain trust and respect

And to create a bond that won't unravel or mix.

So if you're in a toxic relationship,

And you feel like it's too late,

Take a step back and look at the situation

And make the changes that it takes.

Remember that a healthy and happy relationship

Is something that everyone should strive for,

And that it's possible to make it work

If you're willing to work hard for it and more.

I see the hurt in your eyes, as they shift when you speak.

Your anxiety heaping up – a mountain so steep.

The lack of empathy and kindness – knocks you to your feet.

When all this extends beyond repair, it is time to retreat.

It may feel like a struggle, the signs are hard to see.

You will reach out for help, yet find yourself pushed away.

If cries for love are met with coldness or apathy,

Break free before anger and resentment swallows thee.

You often feel drained;

Life can be a rollercoaster ride

The signs of toxicity become hard to hide.

If your heart is full of pain and strife

And it's an exhausting battle to just get through the night,

If tensions are high, and respect starts to fade away,

It may be time to take a step back and decide how you want your day.

A toxic relationship will be hard to outrun,

Trust yourself and find the courage to move on.
