Recognizing Rosé
Whether you call it ‘Rosato,’ ‘Rosewein,’ ‘Rosado’ or even ‘Blush,’ wine drinkers the world over have been enjoying ‘Rosé’ wines in increasingly larger numbers. Pink wine has been with us since the time of the ancient Greeks and Romans, but the past several years have seen a worldwide increase in rosé consumption. While consumers have embraced Rosé, the often rarified world of the Wine Competition has not been quite so keen to reflect the trend. ‘Rosé wine’ may be a category at many competitions but divergent styles are often lumped together, pitting bone dry wines against sweeter examples. Hardly a level playing field.

Any business owner will tell you that when it comes to marketing, looks are everything. Just as important as a product itself is its packaging, from colors to fonts and, of course, its name. Wine Away, which Good Housekeeping voted the best red wine stain remover on the market, had a slightly different path to success. President and CEO Staci Wanichek–who co-founded Wine Away with her mother, Cheryl Corn–did not wait until she had all of the bells and whistles in place in order to push her magic formula to the masses. Instead, she knew the magic would speak for itself; she sent a nondescript bottle of this not-yet-named stain remover to the editors of Food & Wine magazine, and in so doing landed their first of many media features.

Miranda O'ConnerPublished 7 years ago in ProofWhen Did Coffee Become Wine?
Coffee is so last year... The Baby Boomers were coffee drinkers. Let's meet for a cup of coffee. Want to meet for a cup of coffee? Would you like a cup of coffee? There were advertisements about coffee. There were commercials about coffee. General Foods International Coffee ads put the concept of Coffee as a drink on the map. It was now a destination, a feeling. We could sit and stare for hours with a cup of coffee in hand. We could escape in a bathtub as long as we had a cup of coffee with us. The Tasters Choice coffee commercials had us on the edge of our seat wondering if the couple in neighboring apartments was finally going to get together for a cup of coffee and maybe more. The Folger's commercials had us in tears as we watched the military son, as he returns from war, prepare coffee waiting for the aroma to wake his mother. Oh, the drama a cup of coffee created. A generation subsisted on coffee and created a phenomenon called Starbucks, or an upscale coffee shop. Although baby boomers don't like spending 4 bucks on a coffee.

Historically, just about everyone drank wine. Wine was actually cleaner and safer than water throughout most of human history, since the alcohol helped kill a number of germs. Since people noticed wine was less likely to give them food poisoning, both kids and pregnant women drank it.
