2008: Vintage of Angels
While I have to admit that I have never been a hardcore fan of the Chilean wine in general, I have always had a healthy respect for the premium range of produce from the non-industrial, premium line of wines the country has to offer. One particular producer, Montes S.A., grants us something akin to the Super Tuscans, a Super Carménère: Purple Angel, 2008 vintage.

Malbec from the Land of Dreams
In the central area of the arid, southern reaches of Argentina, there is a rare oasis: the Río Negro Valley. An ideal place for growing grapes of great concentration, given the low humidity which goes all year round (to a 30% max!) and barely 7 inches of rain a year. Sounds hard and uninviting, yet its nickname would never give that away: "Land of Dreams." That is the nickname it goes by at Bodega Noemía.
