During all this pandemic-enforced time at home, my husband and I have elevated binge-watching entertainments to a high art; we must have watched dozens of TV serieses marathon-style while curled up together on the couch, accompanied by copious amounts of wine and popcorn.

Everyone in Hollywood seems to have a drink that they adore. For some, it's vodka. For others, it's rum and Red Bull. Others still want nothing more than a Budweiser on a hot, summer day on set.

“Here’s to alcohol: the cause of, and solution to, all of life’s problems.” Homer Simpson may be one of the most famous fictional alcoholics of all time, but he certainly knew how to articulate the world's sentiments on drinking. The relationship between writers and alcohol has historically been profoundly widespread, leading modern authors like Olivia Laing to write their own essays and books about the phenomenon, as Laing did with her 2013 publication, The Trip to Echo Spring: On Writers and Drinking, which discussed the relationship between creativity and drinking. While many authors were teetotalers or at least had a casual relationship with alcohol, the 20th century brought about a slew of talented writers who were alcoholics.

I love playing these games with my rec soccer team, which is made up of the most badass, fiercest women I know. Self-care is important; it belongs in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. And this is some of the most fun self-care I get!

Drinking games, for most of us, involve either playing Kings, drinking while watching a game, or possibly doing a classic college game like Flip Cup or beer pong. Admittedly, those drinking games are pretty decent and can offer a good time.

Let me start off this article by making it VERY clear that I am a teetotaler. That is, I NEVER drink alcohol. I don't stop anyone else from doing it, but it is not my thing. According to Wikipedia, "Teetotalism is the practice or promotion of complete personal abstinence from alcoholic beverages. A person who practices (and possibly advocates) teetotalism is called a teetotaler (plural teetotalers) or is simply said to be teetotal." For me, alcohol has more drawbacks than benefits. People get into auto accidents. Other can't control their emotions or bladders. And others get sick or generally act stupid. I can do all of that WITHOUT imbibing in alcohol. Thank you.

Rap music is famous for discussing certain subjects at length — violence, strip clubs, twerking, drugs, and clubbing, to name a few. While drinking alcohol, there are many routes one can take to getting to that perfect level of drunk. Some prefer drinking at a bar and sipping on their beer or cocktail, while others enjoy the fast paced exciting world of drinking games. Whether you are a college student or working class adult, you are never too old to enjoy the thrill of a drinking game. It is the perfect way to get drunk quickly, and when I say drunk I really do mean DRUNK. People pride themselves on their skill when it comes to these games, as well as their drinking abilities, and try to play as many different games as they can before completely blacking out. Others start off drinking games by saying something like "alright I will only play a round or two" of whatever respective game is being played, but that is not normally the case. Drinking games are far too fun to just play one or two rounds of just one game, and before you know it you realize that the room is spinning around and you have already played four rounds of five different games.
