You Wash You
a love poem, in words four letters or less
"Don't give up!" she says, via text.
Go left, go left. Wait, yes!
Do you give up? Can you keep up?
Oh, but you must.
This, my dear, is how you look for love.
For not long at all, you set it away.
You wait and work at your desk.
You say from now on,
you will look less.
Isn't that how you find your best?
You see how long it's been.
Only then do you drop the pen
that for not that long
had been
the only note you sent
to you, and not to them.
You grip the glass
and tell him what you do.
He says he'd like to read some,
You say not yet, not for you.
He says he's into you, he sees you.
You know it can't be true.
But now, you are here;
now, he's got you.
You look like you.
You smell you.
You wash you.
You make sure it's you.
What does he know of you?
You know he does not,
in fact, want to read you.
At your desk, you pen a new note to you:
that, you can hold onto.

Nice story 👍
Like Donna R. I read it a few times and got something different each time. A very interesting lilt and timing of words.
I think this poem expresses how personal it can be to share your writing with a partner or possible new love. Well done ♥️
I love this one! I read it a few times and interpreted some parts differently each time, such a cool poem! 😁 (Btw I just noticed in your subtitle that this is for the 4 letter challenge, you have a few 5 letter words that slipped in there if you wanna change them before the challenge closes)
Marvelous love poem!!! Loved it!!!
I love how you juxtapose the reality of you as a person with the ethereal quest for love! Wonderful piece!
I enjoyed this, especially "You grip the glass/and tell him what you do./ He says he'd like to read some,/ You say not yet, not for you." Congratulations!
