Like a Phoenix
From the Diary of Jennifer J.B. Biggs I will never forget the summer nights I spent racing Uncle Beau to the railroad tracks. He had no idea that I dreamed of jumping on one of the train cars, hiding in a freight car like the hobos I read about in school, and traveling to see my father in Chicago. Mama said Papa would be back soon. He was just putting his mother in a nursing home. She had Alzheimer's.

Rain, Music, and Smartphones: A Polygamous Marriage
One of my favorite sounds in the world is rain. You might find me walking in a midnight storm or curled up on a sofa with a glass of wine, night or day, being soothed by thunder and lightning. Music is Family Playlists
Music has been integral to my life for as long as I can remember. Dad and Mom were the first to introduce me to music sung in our home, with our voices, that I would hear on airwaves. Being a music lover opened me to all genres. I have playlists with songs that speak to my soul from around the globe. Now, as I compose this four-part set of playlist excerpts from a personal catalog, I am in heaven, appreciating the opportunity to share samples of valued selections with partial lyrics for the vocal music.

The Sorcerers
My quill stops. It hovers in the evening air above parchment. In a gilded mirror, I glimpse my furrowed brows over worried green eyes, and note that my long black moustache and beard should have been trimmed during the waxing of the last full moon. Exiling the reflection, I focus once more on twilight beyond my window.
