Where the fault lies

#poem-some-days-not-every-day

Top Story - May 2024

An acrostic piece for my poem-a-day challenge that has become more of a poem-mostly-every-day thing. It is what it is, lol!

~

tomorrow never came for her, no

heroic deeds in sight, she

raced into that dead-end alley,

every 'worst case' screaming loudly to put up

a fear-fueled fight.

the headline warned of tragedy, an

empty caution to females far and wide–

never put yourself in crosshairs, the fault lies on your side,

in the lure you pose to those that want what's on display,

negating permission in a bid to force their selfish way; too many awful, shallow

graves dug by those with tainted minds, leaving broken hearts and bodies in a world ruled by 'man'kind.

As usual, I expect nothing less from my dear soul sister. Bring on the intense vibes. The combination of enjambment and end stopped lines adds to the intensity and emotion that's embued in your poem. Congrats on Top Story!
