There are things the computers can’t do

Things that they will never do

Warm words aren’t formed by circuit boards

Understanding cannot be automated.

When the fear and frustration are too much

They ask for me.

They ask for us.

We answer and we listen and we hear the things that aren’t said

I'm Angry

I’m Confused

I’m Misled

The conversation turns to details

Card numbers and security codes and last names

Health concerns and accident reports

The beats of the story.

I listen to their tragedies

Large and small

I apologize for that which isn’t my fault

I fix what I can

I console for what I can’t.

I’m the voice on the line

The hand behind the scenes

This is my work.

This is my voice.

I’m here to help.
