Let ‘em In - Paul McCartney

————————————————

Lolita, my neighbor, knocked on my door.

I opened, she shoved me onto the floor.

Blonde-haired, blue-eyed, a sleek body displayed,

I’d noticed, never, my partner betrayed.

*

I don’t need sugar, teepee, eggs, or salt,

We’ve been watching for years and noted your faults.

*

Unzipping her suit, masked as a woman,

an alien gigged, never a human.

Lucent light formed its appearance at best.

My heart pounded, rattled, deep in my chest.

*

“No reason, my friend, should you be afraid,

I come with good news that will make your day.

In three days time, this corrupt world will end,

You’re to leave with us and bring five friends.

The choices are yours, whether wrong or right.

I must meet these humans right now, tonight.

*

"Where are we going? This gift you're bestowing.

The world's going to end? I don’t comprehend."

*

Ten thousand years past, we seeded your world.

It’s abuse and hate our leaders abhor.

We’ve chosen the best to start it anew.

A great reset is planned and way overdue.

We are Earth's Zenith from high in the sky.

Our planet is Fabor, Earth’s mother spy.

You and your friends to our home we invite.

For seven years, your needs we’ll provide.

Then, with thousands to earth, you’ll return,

to reseed, restart, with all that you’ve learned.

Now decide and let’s go without delay.

Accept or refuse this invite today.

*

I choose family to survive insanity.

With gratitude, I thank you for amnesty.

First, my princess, best friend, and love of my life,

For all eternity, I’d make her my wife.

Second comes my daughter, the seed of my loins,

and then her wack husband to whom she is joined.

My stepsons are like blood and children I love.

These are my five picks; the decision is tough.

*** ***

My princess and boys, my daughter, her husband,

Stood at the window, we shot through the heavens.

Lolita, behind us, calmed our fears and fright,

In seven years' time, you’ll make Earth right.

***

Is this a dream from which I must awaken?

Dear reader on Earth, I hope I’m mistaken.

Love one another, let all hate cease to be,

before judgment comes and aliens decree,

that Earth must combust from alien disgust.

If not,

May your goodness,

justice and fairness,

exceed the Faborian score,

and soon a neighbor,

an alien curator,

come knocking on your door.

Well that was fun and unexpected!! At the beginning I thought this was going to be more of a sultry kind of poem, but it was a lot of fun to read! Great work!

  • I just wanna know, where can i get one of those suits?

  • Well if Lolita came knocking on my door, I'd tell her that I don't wanna survive. I'll just nominate someone to follow to flow, And then let them choose who are their five I hope you like my accidentally rhyming comment 🤣

  • Two more days is all we have? I think I can handle that. Nice poem. Great message.

  • This was very interesting. I can imagine this being turned into an epic short story. Great work Scott.

I like where you took this challenge, it has humour yet a serious undertone which is quite sad. Well done
