the difference

a short and sweet challenge entry

you want it that way

don't you?

hard, ugly, mean.

love to you

is a bite of pain,

to give or take

like a drug

to pimp out.

a trip,

a need,

an edge

that cuts

hate is on

one side of

the fine ---------- line

we ride each day,

the fall so near.

yet you risk us

in your need

to show me

how bold you can be,

how free.

too bad the rasp

i ooze

from a long hard cry

says

you bled me dry.

an epic fail

that i can't see

cos you

have me

beg for more

and more.

they look the same

to me.

For someone who supposedly says they are not a poet, I believe you are. The way you wrote it and had the delicate pauses placed, it was wonderful.

Well that cuts deep. Powerful words and so well said.

  • These are wonderful words

  • It's often difficult to tell the difference. Usually we don't get sufficiently passionate to act hatefully without first having that impulse for love & care.

    Amazing work HH!

  • This is the ultimate truth! Always say NO to love. Your poem felt like a very powerful it definitely creates awareness! Loved your poem!

Goodness I felt this hard. It built tension perfectly. That ending "love, hate they look the same to me" gorgeous. Have you ever see night of the hunter? There's a really great (admittedly very creepy) love hate speech. Spike Lee used it in Do the Right thing. This was a very different vibe but a very similarly visceral reaction.
