The Ballad of a Forsaken Love

The existence of a future that will never exist

The room fills up, as the song begins to play

There is a song that plays, as I am dancing in a hall with the one,

Faceless and nameless she is, as we go round and round.

The strings took their own path, and so did the piano keys,

Yet their music spoke of love and bond, of the needs,

Of souls to find their enchanting match.

...

The song that plays as I dance with the faceless/nameless

Under the bright lamps of the Hall we are in with the rest,

Sings to me of a future, pieced together from the shards of the past,

Where all feelings are true and are to last.

But they fade away when the music stops.

...

The song still plays, as I dream and wonder

How she will look and what her name will be,

And when the real one arrives, I will leave the nameless/faceless,

I will leave the existence of a love that never was, and a future that never will be,

And I will call the song "The Ballad of a Forsaken Love."
