Calm Seas
My greatest fears
I fear most
To sink in
Calm seas
——-
Troubled waters
Whilst fierce
Provide direction
——-
The endless struggle
Gives motivation
To weary limbs
——-
But when becalmed
Without impetus
The depths call
———————-
I fear most
The empty silence
Of the mind
——
Pressure and expectation
Whilst demanding
Forge something stronger
——
But external inaction
Saps motivation
And apathy sets in
———————
I fear most
To lose my way
In too much space
——
An open horizon
An empty map
A pointless compass
——
A tight path
Whilst restricting
Shows the way
——
But without the edge
A fall is
Just a step away
————————-
I fear most
To find myself wanting
With just me to blame

Wonderful emotional resonance - awesome first poem! Fun to look back at older work, isn't it?
Strong piece. Very nice!
Beautiful piece. Well done.
Yep - me too! Very nice. :)
Very well written. Great symbolism and imagery.
Brilliant final stanza..."I.fear most to find myself wanting with just me to blame". So much can be said in just a dozen words!
