I Was Chosen
I will forever have the memory of the day I met my Carter, etched into my mind. The day my life changed, unapologetically and un-regrettably.

Growing up, camping in the Pocono Mountains was something I looked forward to all year. At the end of every summer, my father would take my younger brother and I to the Poconos where we would camp at Dingmans Campground. Some of my best childhood memories were sleeping in a tent, fishing in the wild mountain streams, swimming in the Delaware river, and cooking meals over the fire. We still try to go every year, even as adults, and last year was the first year I got to take my boyfriend and our Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, Booker, camping with us.

They say you don't know what you have till it's gone, but that was never true for you. We knew exactly what we had, and somehow that makes it so much harder.

The year was 2015. My girlfriend (now wife) and I had been talking about getting a pet for a few weeks now, and we were considering a cat, since we lived in a rather modest apartment at the time.

Have you ever seen a stray cat live to be 17 years old? Huihui is one such lucky and unique cat. I have witnessed Huihui's wandering process for more than ten years. During this period, I went to work in different places, came back from different places, changed jobs, and walked around. Ash is still alive and kicking in the community, eating and sleeping.

Have you ever wondered what happens to your beloved pet after they die? Although I am not the person who would go and hire a pet psychic, nor do I watch medium shows, I’m happy to say that those furry ones we love stay close even after they pass.

Hi friend! I would have loved you so much! But, the sneezing, the coughing, the headaches, the runny eyes, the runny nose and the days spent on the couch medicated with allergy teas and pills, the misery of the confounded allergies, kept me from being a part of your loving caresses.

Fair warning: Bella was not mine in truth. She was ‘mine’ in the sense that every volunteer at the Riding for the Disabled Association stables I went to had a horse that they worked with. But I loved her. She was a red bay gypsy cob and was sold to the stable when she was pregnant.

We'd been looking for a second cat to add to the family for several months when an ad popped up on Kijiji, a local buy-and-sell site. A nearby family had a 15-week-old kitten to give away.
My Dog Gives Cookies
I saw this vocal challenge and an immediate thought entered my mind; the time my dog gave me a cookie. You’re probably thinking: “yeah okay” in the most sarcastic tone possible. Most people think chihuahuas are vicious little barking four-legged menaces in my case that is so the opposite of accurate, it makes me laugh. Nacho is my chihuahuas name it fits him perfectly. He is not too small for a chihuahua as I have seen smaller. My chihuahua is the type of dog who asks to be let out simply to bark at nothing for thirty seconds and then is already begging to come inside the house. He is the sweetest little dog ever and he is even alive to this day. Around this time I was still living at home since I was in high school. It was the year 2011 and I was the last one of my siblings to be still attending high school. Having siblings can be a tricky subject and I tend to have a sweet tooth. I had bought myself a pack of chips ahoy but not the regular pack. It was the chunky chips ahoy, which is even better. I hid them in them in my room for fearing that my sisters would find them and eat them all before I had even one, so this time I would not be making that mistake again. I Kept them in one of my larger purses and once in a while I would carefully peel back the wrapping and carefully without making any noise sneak a cookie into my mouth while studying. The purse where I kept my cookies was kept on the floor by my desk.
The Day I lost My best Friend
I can remember the last time I saw my dog I was utterly heartbroken when I had to leave him. I promised I would bring him with me when I have a place of my own.
