Hands
Hands. The ones I know are mean and rough. Hands that grab and shake and hit. Hands that pull on my tail and ears. It is so cold and dirty where I am. The hands throw things at me that are supposed to be food, but someone else always gets them first. So cold. So hungry. We are so crammed together in here but each one alone.

Doogie And The Rumble Strips
Your mother was a wild thing. She was beautiful, with silky hair the colour of honey, and eyes like glacier silt. We couldn’t tame her, and I loved her for it. When she ran, her ears folded against her head aerodynamically, and the wind whispered through her fur, almost lifting her from the ground. She was made for the forest, the mountains, the hunt. When she left us, I saw her in your lean body. I watched you jump up the embankment to our house, and for a moment, I was blinded by the ghost of her.

“Why do you always wear black?” “I’m in mourning for my life.” —Masha The Seagull *** To be alive is to mourn. Beds where we once rested our heads, people we once rested beside, animals we’ve loved, family we’ve lost, our bodies. We mourn what has been, what can never be again, hopes dashed, love soured, spring flowers that cannot last. Some days I mourn my 20 year-old knees, my grandmother’s ability to drive a car after dark, cities where young love dripped from me, my child-feet standing on my father’s surfboard, his head still full of hair. Memory, a sweet grief, exquisite and excruciating.

PUPPY LUCK Here I am. Brand new at real estate. Well, not entirely because I’ve done it in the past but I’ve never really had time to invest into it. My kids are finally back to school and the pandemic is nearing the end. Now is a good a time as any to start preparing for our futures. We are more financially stable than we have ever been so if it doesn’t work out, no big deal. I’ll just go back to doing what I used to do, customer service. Real Estate is just Face to Face customer service after all, isn’t it?

Growing up on likes of farm, She only got attached to her baby parrot, not to two adult cows or one baby cow or three dogs . The little baby parrot needed saving and so did his feathers! When they first found him in the yard all tiny with no sight or sound- only chirping painfully; It was love cum pity at first sight, hearing those little tunes coming out from this small ball of green feathery goodness melted her soft heart. She adopted that bald parrot immediately. He kept shaking terribly for many days probably because he was attacked by a bigger predator or may be just fell out of his nest and landed in her house luckily.
My Soul Mate Has Four Legs
The last few years have been pretty tumultuous for a lot of people, for a lot of different reasons. Between a Pandemic impacting heavily on both my home life and professional life, a relationship breakdown and life in general doing what life does, it has been a busy and stressful chapter of my life. I know I’m not alone in this, and even though that is comforting to know I’m not the only one struggling at times like these, it can still feel like a very lonely experience especially when we are separated from the people we love through no choice of our own. Simple things we might have coped with before become compounded and feel insurmountable.

My dog Max is a highly energetic and extremely well-mannered dog. He's super playful and hardly ever barks. My favourite memory of Max would have to be our walks together. There is a trail that is not far from our house, I walk him down to the trail and let him off the leash to walk the trail freely. We sometimes go for long walks and sometimes it's just a short walk. No matter how long the walk is Max loves it. As soon as I grabbed the leash he starts jumping around all excited knowing we are going for a walk.
Borrowed
Something borrowed, something blue. Although I can't remember what my "something borrowed" was for my wedding. As for blue? I remember feeling blue the week leading up to the big day. That feeling manifested into our blue lips the day of. We married in October, on 10.01.10. I picked the day, because it worked with our schedule and also because it was binary (it's an engineering thing). And it was cold. It had rained the night before, evidenced by the wet sidewalks and dewey glow on the flowers that were stubborn enough to hold on to witness the start of autumn.
Only Dogs Are Allowed To Have Tails
There I am. I have to say, I'm quite the handsome fella. I mean, look at me. I have a great smile, obviously. But all the friends of my pet humans say that sometimes when I sit, I look majestic, like I should be on a throne or something. I must agree and don't you forget it! Ah, my pet humans. Their antics are funny. However, as they are a bit slower than we dogs, sometimes, though, I must establish boundaries and discipline them appropriately, particularly when they cross a line defying the natural order. It happened a few times in my life. There was that time that the human Mick brought me a New Year's Eve hat. Dogs don't wear hats. To be fair, I was a good sport, and smiled.
M.W. WhitakerPublished 2 years ago in PetlifeWhat to do When your dog pulls on the leash?
What do you imagine when I ask you about a perfect walk with your dog? This is a question I ask my students during week one of my Family Dog class for dogs over 6 months old. The answers are often very similar.
TL DemmonsPublished 2 years ago in PetlifeLucky Penny
The story of Lucky Penny is one that maybe a lot of people wouldn't want to hear. Most stories about dogs are about how good they are - Red Dog, Bolt, A Dog's Purpose - all movies about man's best friend. But this story about Lucky Penny challenges our ideas of what makes a 'good dog'. My partner has referred to her as 'one of those dogs that you just know would drink from the toilet bowl'. I couldn't agree more.
