Rescuing Sadie
In April 2019, a sweet, grey female cat started hanging out on our patio and in my garden. My two cats were mixed about the stranger, with Loki, my oldest, interested in this new cat and DiNozzo, my rescued black cat, unhappy that there was an invader. Our dog, Misha, a 45-pound Border Collie/Labrador mix, did not seem to care, aside from the excitement it created in the cats.

There are some creatures on this earth that are so strange and mysterious that they seem to come straight out of a science fiction novel. But these creatures are very real, and they live among us!

For most, the summer sun means beach days, pool parties, and walks along the boardwalk. For our furry friends, the summer sun means frequently uncomfortable panting and the constant search for shade. For people to cool off on a hot summer day, a dunk in the pool or five minutes in front of the A/C may do the trick. But for our pets — the solution is not as simple. We dog owners must know the signs of K-9 heat stroke and understand how pets naturally cool when their body temperature rises from the summer heat.

When I married my husband, I already had a cat. Okay, so Midnight wasn’t what I would say old enough to be called a “cat”. She was a four-month old kitten; a calm, baby, who loved to sit in your lap and be cuddled.

My first pets were two goldfish called Mickey and Minnie. I was three. Names didn’t have to be original then. I only have one memory of them, and it is probably the reason I am not overly fond of fish as pets to this day.

I know I’ve written about my pet cat, Paisley, before. I’d like to take some time to write about him again. With him, I honestly feel like it was a case of “who rescued who?” He rescued me as much as I rescued him.

Three and a half years ago, I wandered into a animal rescue shelter and left with this tiny six month old kitten. Totally unplanned but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Colleen MillsteedPublished 2 years ago in PetlifeAbigail’s Posse Plus Two
As a cat Mum of two, one of my favourite memories is from when my two furry angels, Peach and Grizabella, took it upon themselves and decided to join Abigail’s posse in the war on the world on Vocal.

[This story is a tribute written by my son, Michael, to our dog, Karina who died when she was 15 and Michael was 18. They grew up together. They were inseparable. I couldn't say it better...I hope it's ok using his words.]

Coco was my second dog, the first one still in my memory. We got him when I was 6 or 7 years old. I still remember him cuddled up in the back seat with me. His fur was a dark chocolate brown at that time. He always used to sleep in my bed. It was no question I was one of his favourite people. We had Coco for a long time and I have many great memories of him. Here's a few that stand out:
Touch of Heaven
Losing a pet is hard. The above photo displays my petting an orange Maine Coon. His name is Sammy, and he passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 30th, 2022 at the ripe old age of 20.
K. J. NeithercuttPublished 2 years ago in PetlifeA Cat-mom's Duty
This story involves a cat using a litter box, with more detail than you probably care to know. Fair warning. Life with our furry friends is usually a fluffy, good time. Sometimes though, our favorite memories with our four-legged children involve getting through some tough times together. Having cats for most of my life, I'm very aware of what it means to have a pet in your arms while you're stressed out and crying. A lesson that came later, once I was living on my own as a single cat-mom, is that the little ones have problems too. My favorite memory with my girl, Lily, is a time when I could feel that she needed my support the same way a human child would.
