Andres' Words To Those Struggling Right Now “Get out. You don’t have to meet a lot of people. If you have a balcony, go out and take a look outside. Take some sunshine in, part of that is your physiology changes, if you’re in an environment that’s negative keeping you down it becomes a spiral. You start thinking oh things are going bad, now I’m feeling stuck it’s cause you’re in a room and you feel stuck it just keeps building upon itself the negative momentum if you’re able to physically be able to break out of that.

If you read my previous story, you'll notice that the pictures at the top are strikingly similar (ignore the big love heart on the first one as I stole it from my Instagram page.) They weren't chosen by accident, let me tell you! I have this nifty wee app called SmallTalk that sends you six different snipits every day - a fun fact, a joke, an 'On This Day' event, a 'Word of the Day', a 'Tip of the Day', and a quote. The quotes, especially, tend to (maybe try to) be inspirational. A wee surge of pep and positivity if you will, to start your day, or end your day - you tell it when to send you notifications. I get mine at 11am everyday because I know I'll definitely be compos mentis enough to read and appreciate it, or if I'm busy, I find a quiet minute to sit, reflect and digest its contents during a sutible snack break.

What is Success and Have I Achieved it?
In grade 10, my civics and careers teacher assigned us a project on what success means to us. I thought long and hard about what that word meant to me; money, fancy cars, a big house, and the one thing I really believed in.

Being A Little Person
It’s hard enough being in a world that is tall. It’s hard walking into places made for “normal” people. Little people are supposed to acquiesce to what isn’t made for them and yet if something is made smaller for us, we are told to fix things to suit those that are “normal”.

Deliberate Practice.
There are a few people in every field, be it sports, medicine, ballet, chess, business, etc. who excel where others only manage to achieve competence. Their light seems to shine brighter and they achieve a level of mastery that most of us only dream about. Why is that? How do they do it? Are they born with a special gift?

Working, Waiting and Wining
Several times a day, I stand in front of a mirror and examine. I scrutinize the recurring pimples strategically spread across my cheeks, a natural blush from a constantly dirty pillow. Thank God for MAC. I damn the slowly fading yellow stain on my eyeballs. I'll give up tobacco, eventually. The dark bruised skin under my right eye provides character and evidences that nasty fall more than a year ago. What a terrible tumble. My gaze then drops and I behold It, the looseness around my pelvis speaking to my air of just that. Damn... I think I'll have another glass of Cabernet.

Beware the Barrenness of Busy Life
Man is a social animal and has always sought some sort of interconnection with other species; be it on a spiritual, economic, physical or colloquial level. This quest of man has led to many developments; some intrinsic, other like snake’s skin that sheds itself regularly. Man’s propensity to stay can be likened to be an intrinsic value in this contemporary world, a quality it needs to shed away to regain the sanity it craves and the peace of mind it deserves.

Life of a Liver Transplant Recipent
Hi all my name is Bernice Allan, I am currently 24 years old, I have completed in Numerous Australian Transplant Games and One World Transplant Games which was held in 2009 based in Gold Coast Australia. At Nine months old in 1996 my life was changed forever. My parents were told that I have 24 hours to live due to a serious liver conditon which was callied Bilary Atresia which is an imcomplete development of the bile duct. Just as my loved ones were about to say good bye I was rushed into theatre for 10 hours to recieve the 'Gift of Life' which was Liver Transplant on Valentines Day (14th Feburary 1996). I just celebrated 24 years since having this transplant. Most have to wait, days, week, months or even years to recieve an organ transplant but my parents and health professionals knew I wouldn't be able to survive if i didn't recieve a new liver within the 24 hours. Due to my liver condition that I was diagnosed with at 24 hours to live I now from Hearing loss which I have a mental plate in my head to wear a baha and waiting for my left side of my head to be done. I also suffer from severe sleep apnoea, have to wear glasses or contact lenses due to an eye condition called astigmatism. When I started schooling my parents was told that I am going to suffer from Developmental Delay which is classed as an Intellectual Disability which I was placed in a Special Needs class or mainstream throughout my whole schooling. I was involved in 'Bandage Bear Day' which was selling bandage bears to raise money for an operating theatre, Little Livers' which was doing fundraising for people in need while going through this experience. I get involved in Fundraising events because I love working in the community. Fundraising helps improve the lives of people that are living or knows someone that is living with an illness or disease. I have been helped, so I want to help others. I think that I will always help other people because I'm a caring person and I want people to be happy and healthy. Due to having a Liver Transplant I have to take Cyclosprin twice a day orally, this medication stops my liver from being rejected. Even thought I suffer from Borderline Personaility Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, other mental and physical health problems. I am about graduate from my Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), I left my family and friends in South Australia to move to Victoria with my partner. My main goal is to become a Nurse or Transplant Nurse. Having this Liver Transplant has changed mine and my loved ones life around, as its has given me a second chance of life. It has made me who I am today. I think that I am a caring person and have a good personality. If I didnt recieve the transplant, I wouldn't be involved in fundraising and completing in the Australian and World Transplant Games. This would also meant that I wouldn't have met all the amazing and caring friends that I have today.

Challenges = Growth
Everyday can be a grind. Throw in social pressures and complicated relationships; I’m no longer surprised with why a lot of people are imbalanced, especially in Toronto. After spending too many years in an abusive relationship and working in a toxic fashion industry my brain broke; my heart was broken. I was so sure about everything in my life and now I had to pick up the broken pieces of myself and start over. The older you get the harder it is to let go and reinvent. I found that it wasn’t about fixing something that’s broken, it’s about growing into something new. I thought I knew who I was but I had to let that go. So now what? I realized that I was stifled from growth because of my ex. When I left that relationship the amount of growth I went through was dramatic. I decide with little to no planning to go on stress leave; I booked a flight to Bali and left Toronto.

The Voice in Darkness
One early morning I was browsing through Instagram when I came across a post that tagged Diana Watley. I decided to go to her page and see what she was about. Little did I know that one click, that one selection would cause a ripple effect in my life. The strength and sincerity that came through the speakers of my phone caused me to pause and actively and intentionally listen to the words flowing forth. I felt inspired, challenged and hungry for more of what I was hearing.

Why do most Americans fear self-discipline?
America is one of the most successful civilizations in history. That is not an understatement. Whether we're talking about material well being, life expectancy and the general ability of any kind of government or society to provide for its people, America is at the top.
