The Voice in Darkness

The Push to a Better You

By Anntoinette Evon ThompsonPublished 6 years ago 3 min read

One early morning I was browsing through Instagram when I came across a post that tagged Diana Watley. I decided to go to her page and see what she was about. Little did I know that one click, that one selection would cause a ripple effect in my life. The strength and sincerity that came through the speakers of my phone caused me to pause and actively and intentionally listen to the words flowing forth. I felt inspired, challenged and hungry for more of what I was hearing.

I downloaded her whole album and sat and listened as her words ministered to the present and past hurts in my life. I listened as her words challenged me to be a better person, inspired me to grow, mature and develop on a whole different level. A level that will require sacrifice and commitment. Diana A. Watley has been given a special appointed gift to reach women in their darkest moments while at the same time inspire women to champion their strength unapologetically. She was the gas to the small flame I had remaining that now is a roaring blaze. I appreciate and I am thankful that I was able to come across her album. As she continues to post her words of inspiration and challenge via social media outlets, I can’t help but to be grateful that women around the world have the opportunity to hear a refreshing message that will thrust them into a better them. What a beautiful example she is to women and her daughter. In each of her posts you can see the concern, love and desire to reach women, to teach women, and empower women. I believe we take for granted the sacrifices an individual must make to not only heal themselves, but to then turn back to heal others, is selfless. I appreciate that Diana walks her journey for the masses to see transparent, and unashamed. This has encouraged me to do the same. As a person that is coming out of people pleasing and not down playing my strengths because it intimates and exposes the weakness in others, Diana has guided me into not being a judgmental, insecure individual, but how to sincerely support and empower other women all while not losing self.

As a single mother of three girls I've had my fair share of hurt and low self-esteem life chapters. I played her album in my daughters hearing and watched them snap their fingers in agreement as they listened, put a smile on my lips, and to watch them post, share and talk with their friends about the empowering messages they heard put a smile on my heart. Her message is for all ages and to build a foundation of self-love and support for others in young ladies will only lead to growing into a woman that understands that loving others is in no way a reason to not love self.

In a world where it seems our weakness triumph and our strengths are defeated it is nice to hear a voice cheering us along that says we are victorious, in a world where it seems women are set-up to fight against each other, it is nice to hear a fresh message that encourages women to work together, to grow together and to win together.

Take a few moments to listen to this impactful message, I know it will challenge you to be better, to grow, and to mature. Diana’s messages are water to the thirsty that satisfies the thirst of a soul to continue on the path of a better you, family, community and world. Reach on can truly reach one by spreading her message. Her message deserves and needs to be heard by women globally. May she continue to be used to inspire women. Diana A. Watley you are a true instrument for such a time as this.
