Little Things Mean a Lot
It started like most mornings do now—slow, uncertain, and already heavy before anything had happened. The TV was on before I walked into the room. It always is. The volume low, the light flickering across the walls, a kind of constant presence she clings to. Her bed is the other. Between the two of them, her world has become smaller, safer maybe, but also harder to leave.

The Weight of a Small Wag
April 13th: A Shift in the Weather The dawn in Ventura County didn't break so much as it bruised the sky—a dull, purplish gray that mirrored the state of my own heart. At forty-five, I’ve felt less like a man and more like a clock with a rusted mainspring. My marriage to Sarah has become a masterclass in polite silence, a house of mirrors where we catch glimpses of who we used to be but can no longer touch or hear. Our conversations are strictly logistical, pruned of all color. They are as dry as the Santa Ana winds.

“Hope Lives Here”
Where Broken Lives Begin Again No one arrived at the house by accident. They found it the same way people find things they’re not supposed to—through quiet desperation, whispered recommendations, or moments when life felt like it had closed every door at once.

I Quit Social Media
THE ACCOUNT I DELETED AND THE LIFE I FOUND 💻 I had 47,000 Instagram followers when I deleted my account on January first, a number that represented three years of content creation, approximately two thousand posts, somewhere between eight hundred and a thousand hours of time spent photographing, editing, captioning, and engaging with people I had never met and would never meet, and a meaningful portion of my professional identity as someone who was building a personal brand in the wellness and lifestyle space, and the deletion which took approximately thirty seconds to execute after which the account and everything it contained disappeared permanently was the most terrifying and most liberating thing I had done in years because it was the first major decision I had made in three years that was not made in relationship to how it would appear to the audience that had become the invisible committee I consulted before every significant choice in my life 😤📱

Buttons. Winner in Small Win Challenge.
I have a turquoise linen dress with mother-of-pearl buttons all the way down the front, a short-sleeved single breasted dress somewhere between a coat dress and a sheath. I bought it at Cato on James Island when I was in graduate school at the College of Charleston and The Citadel. It looked fantastic on me with my blonde hair, blue eyes, and perpetual tan from living at the beach (Folly, East 10th) and driving a red Mustang convertible.

The Side Hustle That Made Max a Millionaire
When Max was 24, his life looked like a thousand other lives in the city. Every morning he woke up at 6:30, grabbed a quick cup of coffee, and rushed out the door to catch the same crowded bus. By 8:00 he was sitting behind a small desk in a gray office, answering emails, entering numbers into spreadsheets, and counting down the hours until the day ended.

The Four Agreements
In a world filled with stress, expectations, and constant noise, finding peace can feel overwhelming. The peace we seek can come from four quiet promises given in the book The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. It is short enough to read in an afternoon.

Let's Become Infectious
There was a time when I was growing up in the Pentecostal/holiness sect of Christianity we were indoctrinated with the idea that certain “places” believers should never allow themselves to go. The idea of creating friendships with those who are believed to live a more carnal lifestyle supposedly “destroyed your testimony” and “compromises” your very salvation. After living most of my adult life as a believer, I simply beg to differ on this approach. This fear based teaching, that you can lose your salvation through associating with unbelievers is not scriptural.
