Turo. Honorable Mention in Small Win Challenge.
At least the Turo was easy to cancel. I accessed the trip through the app, which had kindly saved my username and password, and tapped the Cancel button, a digital space of graphical control. I thanked myself for pressing that Save Username and Password button, and then spiraled out infinitely, thanking the button designers, web technicians, internet, and me again for propagating the evolution of technology.

Send . Runner-Up in Small Win Challenge. Top Story - April 2026.
There are victories so small they barely make a sound. No applause. No witness. No clean finish line. Just something that, on the outside, looks almost laughably ordinary. A message sent. A call returned. A dish washed. A door opened. A form completed. Proof of life disguised as administration.

Why Should We Bother Ourselves With Prayer?
I’ve always been fascinated by people who seem to have a hotline to God. What I mean is, they pray and things happen. For a long time, I believed they had some “special” relationship with God. I used to think that they were somehow more powerful in things spiritual with heighted discerning abilities as well. I’d observe how some would scream their prayers; others would convulse while speaking tongues or just weep. While all of this can be a bit entertaining, as I matured I realized this doesn’t mean God is at their beck and call. The reality? There is no sure fire formula that provokes answers we may want immediately from God. We all want God to do things for us and hear our cries right? We all need something! Our society is filled with the gimmie, gimmie, gimmie syndrome that is drowning out the Holy Spirit. God isn’t a sugar daddy, and we need to review how we perceive our relationship with Him so that we truly understand our role in the body of Christ. People generally feel more confident in their spiritual life when prayers are answered in the manner they’d like. In feeling comfort from this, we must remember that prayer is not a medium Christians can use to manipulate God nor is it something that merely occupies our time so we don’t sin. It’s not some mystical, complicated event and it certainly doesn’t give us any greater standing with Him. Whether a person prays or opts out, He still loves us all the same. So my thought or question becomes, “Why pray at all?”

God is speaking; ARE WE REALLY LISTENING?
In our world where there is so much suffering it’s not surprising that people are looking for answers. Many are looking for a time and date for the end of the world in order to escape the tragedy that has engulfed our fallen generation. If we look at the scriptures, we’ll find the disciples asked the same question of Jesus in Matthew 24:3. They too, wanted to know when the end would come. They too, wanted an end to the suffering and persecution that they endured in their era. What comfort did they find?

Shifting to a Sustainable Mindset
We have just surpassed the second quarter of 2026. It is officially spring time, and with it comes the hope for a summer filled with lasting memories. Although that is our stance on the surface, many are harboring a slight feeling of dread. We are still operating in fear of what the future holds regarding securing gainful employment, finding affordable housing navigating the effects of inflation and the cost of healthcare. This year is serving up a clarion call to us that whatever the political landscape looks like, these events initiate a wake-up call to the importance of connection, family, and what is truly relevant in our lives.

The eyes of perfection from the imperfect
The older you get, the wiser you are to the truth and disappointment of how being the good guy and playing fair doesn’t always equate to having a nice happy life, slowly having to reconcile with the fact that the world you know and the people you meet or not as clean, professional and honest as the social rulebook would suggest.

Trauma. Content Warning.
When you hear the word, trauma, a few things may come to mind. EMTs and first responders? Probably. War veterans? Most definitely. Abuse and rape victims? Maybe. A lot of different things can cause trauma. However, trauma affects people differently.

Runner Up
When I was a kid, I would read everything and anything, though admittedly I gravitated toward fiction. I loved stories about funky, zany characters like Pippi Longstocking or journeys of self-discovery like Huck in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I connected to these types of characters because their parents were nonexistent.
