Don't Just Sit There
Why is it that so many people have this foolish belief, that one day, their goals will come to them? It's like people believe that life will just hand them success, happiness, and their goals, their circumstances will turn around for the better, and they will live happily ever after. I'd like to say that I'm joking around in making such a statement, but sadly, it's the truth. The only action that most people seem to take, in pursuing their goals, is trotting on down to the local lotteries agent to buy a lottery ticket, with the expectation that a piece of paper with a few numbers on it, offering the odds of 1 in 7 million to win $1 million, will deliver them everything they ever wanted. To put these odds into perspective, you are 7 times more likely to be struck by lightning than winning division 1 in the lottery. Granted that there is always someone who is rewarded out of pure luck, but for most people, it's nothing more than week after week of having their hopes shattered. It's staggering to think that more than 1 in every 3 people are relying on a lottery win to fund their retirement. Now that's disturbing! Why do so many of us place our hopes of achieving wealth, success, and our goals, on a few ping pong balls with numbers drawn on them? One word; laziness.

Marked by the Mirror
I've been hearing folk talkin' about losing "COVID weight" often enough. It is in hearing statements like that, when I'm certain of the decay of the vibrant personality within some people. The topic may be their skin color, their financial status, their relationship status, or the way their hair currently looks. Weight isn't always the culprit, but negative thoughts tend to sneak in the mind sometimes, after walking past a mirror.

Stand for something
When it comes down to it, there have been times in my life I felt a responsibility to stand up for others. There are undoubtedly times where you will need to do this. I have done things like taking a kid who I knew nothing about to the bathroom in school to wash his face after being punched in the nose. I grew up with violence and always wore two shirts to school in case I had to give someone the other one. He had bloodstains on his shirt, so I gave him my extra after helping wash the blood off his face.

Redefining “Perfectionism” For A More Productive Life
What if I tell you reality is a construct? Your self-image, circumstances, beliefs, fortune, friends — everything that feels so unshakeable is but one version in a million other possibilities. It appears so solid because this is the reality you chose create every single day of your life; a version built on the foundations of your limiting self-beliefs.

What's Your Why 2.0
This is an older post from my blog, onecreativeschatter.com. It has been coming up in my thoughts a lot again, so I thought I'd reshare it. Lately, I've been struggling again with wanting to finish school. 2020 has taken a huge toll on everyone, and my story is no different. After driving an Uber passenger yesterday, I was encouraged to keep going. I'm currently re-evaluating my "why"... read on to get some inspiration if you're struggling.

Your Future And Happiness At Risk!
For anyone who thought life would be so much better if they didn't have to go to work, may have just a little wake up call in 2020. The coronavirus has caused much destruction on a global scale, not only health wise, but also in regards to employment. As businesses were forced to temporarily close, or had restrictions imposed on them, many had no other choice but to offload staff, leaving millions of people, all of a sudden, without a job. What a contrast in people's opinions about their job though, when we compare the sort of things they were saying mid 2019, to that of mid 2020. Previously, it was one big whinge session, constantly complaining about how much they hate their job, how much their job sucks, and how they could think of much better things to be doing in their life. Fast forward to mid 2020, that conversation was still one filled with whinging and complaining, but this time it was about the fact how they had no income to live on, how they were desperate to have their job back, and how they were stuck at home not being able to do anything. It's interesting that the hatred towards their job, with the wish of not having to work, came to fruition, and yet only ended up causing more unhappiness and stress. Two lessons to learn here, be careful what you wish for, and we never really understand what we have until it's gone. Let's be honest here though, the real reason people were so desperate to get their job back wasn't because they enjoyed it, was it? They wanted it back for the money, which is understandable to an extent, because we need money in order to survive accordingly. Basically, most people have an extreme desire and need for money, but don't want to have to work for it, and sorry to say, but life doesn't work that way. The underlying problem, to all this I have discussed above though, is work satisfaction.

Pagan at christmas time? Santa is too!!
4 years ago I discovered that I have Scandinavian roots that go far beyond the british/Irish clans my parents claimed was the majority of genes for years. This meant the world to me to know that I have ancestors that celebrated the seasons far differently than the commercial brand of Christmas that was spoon fed to me every december alongside bowls of cranberry sauce and a pine-scented plastic pointed bush looking thing. Every winter, I was fortuned with a snow dusted house in the mountains, relatives to gather around an abundance of food, and of course presents. This was all wonderful and I am grateful for the memories that comes with this type of festivity. But, there is is "but" here .
