Penny For The Guy - A Mikeydred November 2026 Dollar Prompt For All Vocal Creators
Share Your Stories And Read Other Submissions

Introduction
November gets its name from novem, the Latin word for "nine".
Google Gemini
The Original Roman Calendar: In the ancient Roman calendar, the year started in March rather than January, making November the ninth month in a ten-month system.
The Shift to Number 11: Later calendar reforms added January and February to the beginning of the year, which pushed November to the eleventh position.
Keeping the Old Name: Even though it moved, the Romans kept the traditional name—just like September ("seven"), October ("eight"), and December
Many creators and friends have supported these challenges, so I won't let them down.
Every month, we set prompts in the Vocal Social Society. We offer a $1 tip to five random creators who take part, asking them to share their stories in the comments and on the group thread.
This is not official, and usually after each one, I say that's it, and I always think people have had enough of me, but people tell me how much they look forward to my challenges, so I will keep doing them as long as I get responses.
So What's Gonna Happen This Time?
Please write a poem or story related to this month of November or a piece inspired by the music. Although I have listed some November days, there are a lot more than that to choose from. It seems to me now that every day is a National or World something day, and that is no bad thing.
Here are one or two November days which may inspire you:
November is Banana Pudding Lovers Month
Farners Almanac
November 1 is  All Saints’ Day.

I will write a piece or two myself and include them, but that won't be classed as an entry. A couple of my examples are older pieces that fit into the rough challenge criteria.
I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with, and I know that you are all incredibly creative Vocal talents, so get your pens, paper and keyboards out.
The music is "Fireworks" by The Blue Ă–yster Cult
Take a listen; it may inspire you. It is a superb piece of music.
So SHARE YOUR WORK in the comments here, and/or also on the thread in the Vocal Social Society if you are on Facebook.
Please drop your entry in the comments. Otherwise, I won't see yours when I choose the random winners. Also, please link to and mention this piece in your entry. Thanks for that.
On Tuesday, 1st December 2026, I will award a dollar tip to five random Vocal Creators who have shared their work here. I know it's not much, but when I get a dollar tip it makes me feel loved and appreciated.
The Thread in VSS is here:
Here is the last prompt/challenge with the results and the five randomly chosen stories:
